I've been having issues with the new "old" FamilySearch.org site too. I've had it crash on me twice today, doing different things on the website, but each time it crashed right when I moved my cursor over the drop down box from "Search Records". Not sure what's causing it, it doesn't seem systematic...

Obviously they won't be getting rid of familysearch.org, but I figured they would be completely overhauling the website when the "new" familysearch becomes just regular familysearch. Besides a design upgrade, I didn't notice much difference, except that scrolling is now having issues.

From Paul Allen's blog, concerning the new FHL Catalog: "Users will be able to add new sources that are [not] currently in the library catalog, and thus extend its scope of coverage. They will be able to improve the source descriptions, and even rate and review sources as to their usefulness. Whenev...

It appears that some of the scrolling issues in IE7 are getting fixed, but it's still quite random when you hit the back button whether or not you are sent to the top of the page or to the place from which you left the page. If they're getting rid of this site in a year or so, why change the display...

New FHL Catalog website

A while back I remember reading something about how a certain company was taking over the task of updating FamilySearch.org's FHL Catalog - or something to this effect. Does anyone have any additional information about this? Are they having a beta test for the new catalog, and where can we send sugg...

The differening opinions on this thread lead me to ask, "Why do we need place names anyway?" There are obviously several answers, and several different uses, I can think of a few: 1) To provide another criteria for determining if two people are different 2) To provide added information for those att...

One problem I see is this has the potential to add new clutter to the place name database. All it takes is "dedicated genealogist" aunt Mabel to insist that grandpa Joe was born in Louis County, and her equally "serious historian" cousin Marge to insist that grandpa Joe was born in Lewis County. Th...

I had added this suggestion several months ago, but got no response. Also, no change has been made. I agree with your frustrations of a forced beta. Betas are for advanced users to try out systems and suggest improvements. This beta is using mostly novice users, placing hundreds of thousands of temp...

It appears that with the new website, when you hit the back button on your browser to return to the list of records, you are returned to the top of the page, and not to the location where you left that page from. This will increase clicks and search time when searching through hundreds of IGI record...

New Old FamilySearch Website

Just minutes ago, the old/current FamilySearch.org webpage changed it's appearance. Is everyone seeing this? It doesn't look like there are any content updates, just a new look and a new login function on the header. Anything else new? Anything lost?
