Re: Server for ward

As an FYI, the Church uses WSUS in addition to TEM to make sure computers are updated. Going back a couple of years, WSUS settings were pushed out via MLS, and one of the first "patches" that went out via WSUS was TEM :) Both of them are used to make sure machines are up-to-date. We also h...

Re: Office 365 for Nonprofits

The Church is aware of this and has been in conversations with Microsoft for quite a while now about what it means and whether or not they will use it for ecclesiastical leaders. Nothing has been decided yet, but when a decision is made, word will go out.

Re: Re-image OS/upgrade to windows 7

Very odd indeed! I'm positive that the machine didn't ship from Dell with Windows 7 Home, so somebody local must have done it at some point after it arrived. Maybe a ward clerk? Do you know when the computer is scheduled to be replaced? If the machine is a 740, I believe it's getting to 5 years. You...

Here is a link to the September 2012 newsletter that went out with the information: https://tech.lds.org/wiki/images/9/92/September_-_English.pdf Here is a site that outlines the "Technology Specialist Communications" that go out. Notice a link near the bottom to "Previous Communicati...

Re: Can't disable user right to change time

A newsletter went out to all Stake/District Technology Specialists before we pushed out the Date and Time policy via TEM. The information was also added to the RKATS site (clerksupport.lds.org). Here is a direct link to the information: https://www.lds.org/callings/melchizedek-priesthood/records-and...

Re: Spontaneous reboot on send/receive

I also want to confirm that this is NOT a common issue (it's the first time I've heard of it happening). I have a number of 740s in my stake, all using "internet" as the connection type, and none of them have the problem. If I had to guess, there's something going on with the existing stat...

Re: Sophos Update Issue-Cannot Connect to Server

Did the GSC tech I just talked to know about this? No, they did not know about this. I just became aware of the thread today and tracked down the information. Once we confirm that the instructions I posted work, I will let them know. I'm also still waiting for a new Sophos package so I can replace ...

Re: Sophos Update Issue-Cannot Connect to Server

Hi everybody, let's see if we can get this resolved. After doing some research, it looks like the latest Sophos 10 installer we posted was not packaged correctly. Sophos installs just fine, but the settings it needs to connect to the Church's servers aren't taking for some reason. It's normal for th...

Re: Drivers for Optiplex 740

If you would like, I can help you get the Dell 740 XP image. That way you can just re-image the computer and the drivers should all be there. If you're interested, send me a PM.

Re: dban

Are you re-imaging it to give back to the FM group? If so, you can give it to them without an OS. They will be working with a disposal company to get rid of it anyway.
