We don't know the specifics yet, but it wasn't really a bug that the old version didn't do that. The old version was real old and hadn't been updated as other things have evolved. Since the privacy restriction has been discussed (and complained about) a lot over the years, my uninformed guess is that the new version would allow appropriate leaders access to individuals whose privacy settings are restricted. For example, I would expect that a Bishop could contact all ward members, regardless of their privacy setting.kellymab wrote:Will the bug that prevented leadership from being able to send messages to members who had their privacy settings set to ward/leadership only be fixed? Or will the messages continue to go to only those people whose privacy is set to stake?

Our Stake Conference is coming up next weekend, and our Stake President wants to send an e-mail invitation to all adult stake members. With this function inoperative, what methods can be used to accomplish this objective?
I'm hoping for something better than a manual cut/paste everyone's email from the directory. WIth our 3000 members that's a formidable task.

You just named the only alternative I'm aware of. And I'm not sure as it would work since 3000 may exceed the limit your ISP allows. You may need to delegate the task to the individual wards.ThomsonMA wrote:Our Stake Conference is coming up next weekend, and our Stake President wants to send an e-mail invitation to all adult stake members. Re: "Send a Message" Function on LCR
You can pull email addresses from the Member List on Leader and Clerk Resources. Go to Membership > Member List. Where it says "Select an organization" choose "All Organizations." Make sure it fully loads (it may take a minute). Then, do a select-all (control-A on Windows or command-A on Mac) and paste into Excel. From Excel, you can easily select all of the email addresses for emailing.
When you send an email to a large amount of people, make sure you put their addresses in the "BCC" field unless you want everyone to be able to see each others' email address (in this case, you don't, so use BCC).
However, like russellhltn said, having 3000 recipients will (in pretty much any email program) bounce and refuse to send. It may be wise to split in into 10 or so separate emails, and send those 10 emails over a few days to make sure your email program doesn't mark you as spam and bounce your message.

The new "Send a Message" feature is now available for users using LCR in English. We will add additional languages as the translation process is completed for the other languages.

Excellent. Any improvements we can expect beyond working properly when members have set their profiles to private?scgallafent wrote:The new "Send a Message" feature is now available for users using LCR in English.

- Message handling updated to address DMARC issues
- Updated groups for selecting who should receive a message
- Mailing groups for ward/stake council, PEC, BYC
- Members can be individually selected when selecting a group
- Indication of which members will or will not receive messages
- The TO/BCC interface has been replaced with an "allow recipients to reply to all" option

Is the "send a message" in LCR related in anyway to the email notifications feature in the calendar that's been down?scgallafent wrote:The new "Send a Message" feature is now available for users using LCR in English.
