Clerk and Technology Specialist Callings Organization

Our stake is looking for a new Assistant Stake Clerk - Technology Specialist. However, for a variety of reason, we're considering splitting the Stake Technology Specialist part of it so we don't have to call an assistant stake clerk. We read that "The stake technology specialist is an assistant stake clerk. The stake clerk may be given this assignment if necessary" (http://tech.lds.org/wiki/Stake_technology_specialist). I know we can create custom callings as needed, but it's best to stick with the standard callings. I'd love some examples of how you have built the technology hierarchy in the stake, especially if it doesn't involve a stake clerk. I have seen some references to building technology specialists, or special-assignment technology people. Would you all share your organization of technology callings?

For reference, our current setup is:
Me (Assistant Stake Clerk - Technology Specialist). And whoever I can rope in (mostly generous stake clerks/secretaries).

If you don't use the standard calling, then those with the calling will not have access to systems they need. In particular, access to the Technology Manager (tm.lds.org) and the Record Keeping and Technology Support site (clerksupport.lds.org) is controlled by the standard calling.

I have an assistant in my calling as STS, but from the discussions I have been reading, he probably won't have access to clerksupport.lds.org, which would be very useful when setting up new clerk computers. Is it possible in that case to call two STS's in one stake?

Yes. There is no limit on the number permitted. Our stake has three.

Depending on what's needed, he might be OK with just assistant stake clerk.

Assistant stake clerk gives rights to Clerk Resources and the membership information there. If that is needed great, but if that isn't wanted then STS would be better.

He would need access to clerksupport.lds.org, so that means that we should probably call him as an STS. I'll have to talk to our stake president about that. Thanks, Ryan.

Good Morning:
I want to know what is some of the training that a STS should render to clerks.
Secondly, I also want to know how many years should a printer stay before be replaced.

Please refer to 4.9 of Meetinghouse Technology Roles and Responsibilities.

While computer are replaced on a 5-year cycle, "Monitors and printers may be replaced as needed."
