Microphone Batteries

#1

Post by davidbowmanbyu »

We are finding that our Microphone batteries in the Stake are running out very quickly. There has been a movement afoot to use rechargeable batteries instead of one and done batteries. As the Stake Technology Specialist, I'm generally not in favor of them because I feel like it introduces to many complications on charging recharging, etc ... That being said I'm interested in arguments for and against.

Rechargeable batteries are often of a slightly lower voltage and your range and audio quality may suffer.

I'm curious about the usage case. Seems like you'd have to be using wireless mics on a weekly basis - perhaps for Sunday School. We only use our mics occasionally and a set of batteries lasts at least a couple of years.

If the wards are using it, you might want to consider having the wards furnish the batteries. Hopefully, then they'd be careful about turning it off after each use.

Stake wide they use them weekly. We have a large community of older members stake wide so it’s used for folks to participate by passing around since they can’t get up to comment and they can’t hear each other.

With 3 wards in a building it could easily get 3 hours of usage a week if not 4 or 5
