Database error when entering an expense

#1

Post by cjohn1949 »

I attempted to enter an expense and received an error message saying there is a database problem. I tried rebooting with no success. I tried to revert to the most recent database backup, but it said I must first receive a special file that I can only get from Salt Lake. Do I just request that file from the Global Service Center?

This is MLS, correct? I remember seeing this once and had to get the stake technology specialist to fix it and talk to HQ. I believe they have to request that file from HQ. This also means you probably can't process tithing as MLS is now broken.

You certainly can't use MLS for financial work until the GSC sends you a special file. But you can use LCR Finance for expenses. You just can't do a deposit this Sunday.

I don't think you have to call SLC to get that file.

I'd do two send/receives some time apart - such as 15 minutes or so. The first send/receive will transmit a request for the file. The wait is to allow time for the SLC computers to process it. Then the second send/receive downloads it. If it still doesn't unlock, wait awhile longer and send/receive again.

Thank you all. I tried send/receive again, and was then able to restore from a previous backup. I was told that the finance functions would temporarily be locked until they have a file ready to update our database as much as possible. After another send/receive cycle the finance functions will again be available for me to add any other financial data that may have been lost between the date of the backup file and now.

I'll wait a little while and send/receive again until they send an update file. Thanks for the help!
