using a paper tithing slip to donate to missionary in another ward

I know you can donate easily to another wards missionary if you have the name and unit number, but what about using a paper slip and handing it in at the ward level. If someone were to use the "other" form on a paper slip, and put the unit number and name of the missionary they were donating to, would it get credited to the right place?

Unless something has changed, no. It doesn't work that way.

Even if it did, I highly doubt it would work between units using different currencies.

You may certainly mail a donation with a paper slip to another ward to support a missionary. The clerk in that ward would have to add you as an out-of-unit donor, so you should write your MRN on the donation slip.

Keep in mind that it should be mailed to the bishop of that ward. Meeting houses are not set up to get postal mail. That means keeping up with any changes to the bishop of that ward.
