The release notes for MLS doesn't say anything about Windows 10 support. So, no. Any cost of upgrade is the church's problem, not the local unit.

Updated/new info about Windows 10 for Clerk computers - found on mhtech.lds.org under "Computers" topic:

https://www.lds.org/help/support/win10-upgrade

From the FAQ:
"The Stake Technology Specialist (STS) is primarily responsible for upgrading clerk devices. However, where an STS is not available, the Stake Clerk can work with the Ward clerks and other leaders to make sure updates and setups are performed correctly."

I notice in the setup instructions PDF one of the screenshots shows a "MHAdmin" user – is that supposed to be an account for the stake technology specialist to be able to log in and troubleshoot, or is it only for headquarters? The instructions don't address it.

Existing computers with Windows 7 and Windows 8 have the option to upgrade to Windows 10, but are not required to do so. This is available free of charge, through July 29, 2016.

Any computers not upgraded before the deadline would need to wait for the device to become eligible for replacement (5-year replacement cycle).
And just when where they planning to tell the STSs? (Grumble.)

That will be an interesting wait and see!
Perhaps we should start a sweepstake on when! (Just kidding)

July 28. [grin]

Actually, there will probably be an email to STSs, clerks, and other leaders in the next week or so.

Alternatively, the STS will find out when the current password no longer works.

How long does a 4Gb download take on a 750k DSL line? We may not have long enough unless we get started right away.

If truth be told, the download is closer to 3Gb for W10 Professional.

According to downloadcalculator.net, it will take 12.7 hours.
