baby blessing in another ward
2yrs ago our son and family came to our ward to bless their little girl. They live in GA and we live in UT. We did do a blessing certificate with the name of the stake in GA but obviously we did something wrong! Son and family just moved to AL and there is no record of their 2yr old. How do we get that in there? We know she was blessed on 6/25/17 (and of course we haven't found the cert yet) but wasn't the child record created when we did the blessing/certificate?

Such blessings are not saving ordinances, so they are not recorded. If your son's ward clerk cannot find a record for the child, your son can fill out a form that gives the information for the child, as well as permission for the clerk to create a record for the child. No harm, no foul.

For everyone's understanding, the answer to this question is no. The Clerk can create a blessing certificate from the membership record of a child of record if the family is a member of the ward/branch. 2 years ago, a clerk could also generate a certificate from MLS outside of any link to a membership record, which is what they had to do if the family did not reside in their ward/branch. In the second case, it is the parent's responsibility to report back to their home ward/branch so the record can be created.jvoran wrote: ...but wasn't the child record created when we did the blessing/certificate?
I don't know if certificates can be printed via MLS any longer - most of the membership things have been moved to LCR and MLS can pretty much only report on member data. In LCR, it appears the membership record must exist before the certificate can be generated which means the certificate must be printed by the home ward/branch even if the blessing happened elsewhere.
