Rich Farr Director of Solutions Delivery - Ecclesiastical Portfolios

What gets Rich Farr, Director of Solutions Delivery in the Ecclesiastical Portfolios, up in the morning?  Rich often refers to President Hinckley’s October 1981 General Conference address where President Hinckley stated,

“We are confident that as the work of the Lord expands, he will inspire men to develop the means whereby the membership of the Church, wherever they may be, can be counseled in an intimate and personal way by his chosen prophet. Communication is the sinew that binds the Church as one great family. Between those facilities which are now available and those which are on the horizon, we shall be able to converse one with another according to the needs and circumstances of the time.”

Rich was hired at the church in 2004 as an Enterprise Architect, with the desire to help develop technology to further the work of the Lord.  Rich’s experience in leading technical teams and solving organizational and technical problems proved very valuable as he helped lead the move of the Church’s primary data center to its new modern and more secure location.  Rich’s drive, ability to lead technical teams, and technical problem solving skills prompted his promotion to director of Program Management.

Prior to working at the Church, Rich co-founded and managed a successful website development and integration company, which developed e-commerce, marketing and business integration systems companies such as Volkswagen, Audi, the Smithsonian Institute, EMI Music Publishing, McKesson Pharmaceuticals and   Rich also spent 3 years as the Director of IT Development and IT Operations for Certiport, a global certification company.

Rich has led the vision for establishing and building the Program Management group within the Church’s IT department.  Rich has hired most of the current technical program managers at the Church and is always searching for technical leaders who love to take on the most difficult technical and organizational challenges.
