In preparation for the calendar 2.0 webinars, we recently combed through the forums and pulled out as many questions as we could feasibly answer. The calendar 2.0 FAQs page has been updated with answers to these questions. If you're watching the webinar and you have a question, consider checking the list of FAQs prior to submitting your question via chat. We'll be adding to this FAQ page throughout the webinars as we receive more calendar questions.

Also note that the more general homepage for calendar 2.0 has links to quick reference guides and videos. About 4,000 people have signed up for the webinars so far. Based on this participation, we're looking to do more technology webinars in the coming months.

The slides and a recording of the webinar will be available here later this week.

The addition of Set-up Time is great, but the limitation of 4 hours is too restrictive. There is actually some events that require set-up time to start the evening prior to the event time the next day. If you input a second event to provide for set up time the day before - it appears on the calendar as a second event - cluttering the calendar view. Maybe there should be an option to "Do not publish this event" if no other option is available to reserve the set-up time longer than the current 4 hours.

The need for 2-3 wards sharing a calendar for combined scouts or other auxilaries, requires that the calendar be set up as a Stake calendar. Could an option be added to limit the view of the calendars to certain "wards"? I assume the editors of the calendar will need to be assigned by name by the Stake administrators.

Is there a possibility that the "Definition" or the purpose of the calendar be shown as an informational "bubble" that appears when the cursur (mouse) is hovered over the name of the calendar in the subscribed or available calendars list?
# Tom Johnson 2011-12-13 11:33
David, this is great feedback. However, suggestions for improvement or bug reports won't reach the right people. To reach the team of engineers, post this in the Calendar subforum under in the LDSTech Forum.

Tom, there are questions being posted here because we can't find the right place to enter them. Can you help Sister Jolley

With the old calendar, when an organization in your Ward wanted to add something to the calendar, it had to be reviewed and authorized by the Web administrator. With the new calendar, it appears that the approval step has been removed. Is it supposed to work that way?
# Tom Johnson 2011-12-13 11:11
Troy, yes, as long as a calendar has been approved, calendar editors will have the ability to publish events on that calendar without approval. The intent is to alleviate the bottleneck and burden associated with publishing all events through a single contact point, as well as to empower calendar editors with more control over their calendars.

It looks beautiful and is very functional and customizable except it does NOT work w/ Google calendar as advertised. It said it couldn't parse the data. Generated new sync URL's 2x and still wouldn't work. I also miss the pull-down menu to jump several months.
# Tom Johnson 2011-12-13 11:10
Nelson, please post this issue in the forum. When you generated the new sync URLs, did you re-add those new sync URLs into Google? Other users in the forum can help troubleshoot this.

the new calendar in Argentina does not walk anyone has any logical solution?, because the solution they gave me is to change the time on the computer, but I can not change on all computers
# Tom Johnson 2011-12-13 11:09
The issue with the calendar not displaying in Argentina was supposedly fixed with a recent release. If it's not working, can you submit this bug via the LDSTech Forum? Thanks,

Is it possible to add a new "location" for an event in the calendar. For Bishopric meeting I would like to see "Bishop's office" as a option. What is the best practice if it is not possible to add a new location?
# Kent Price 2011-12-30 20:29
Yes - it is done at the stake level (whoever is in charge). We have two bishop's offices in the building and added them both.

Printing the Calendar for usage in meetings such as Stake Calendar
on the New site gives you font choices
but this is not working

Most members and older members can not view the New Calendars

Printing out Stake calendar (PDF) for the Ward bulletin for those that do not have Internet access and are older is a great idea, but the FONT SIZE in PDF is awful and needs to be corrected please

Like typing here I see we can get the box to move down. as Admin I would love
to see more flexablity with the Print out Calendar and box

Some members complained that their is not description added to the print out !

I am the webmaster for my wards webpage yet when I go to setup for the new calendar I cannot make anychanges or approvals. I had no problem on the classic view but it seems with the new calendar the approval for my being webmaster did not follow to new calendar setup. I have talked to my stake exec secretary and he is unsure as it is setup ok as far as he knows on his end with the stake. Any suggestions?
# Kent Price 2012-01-05 19:30
If you created the calendar you should have view and edit functions. Under the date there should be a SETTINGS button. It should have a menu item 'Calenders' and should list the calendars you can manage. If not, the stake has it set up wrong.
# Elizabeth Ann Jolley 2012-01-05 19:37
That is my problem I cannot setup the calendar at all. The settings options I should have access to I don't.
# Kent Price 2012-01-05 20:06
Also - in the settings there is an option 'Administrators' you should be listed there.
# Elizabeth Ann Jolley 2012-01-17 14:16
Does the "classic" calendar need to be shutdown for the new calendar to work?? I told our stake administrator about the the Pdf for stakeadministra tor and he said he would take care of it but i still have no access as admin to our ward calendar. very frustrating. is there anyone i can refer him to to try and get this issue resolved?
# Kent Price 2012-01-17 19:07
Let the stake president know.

When I set up a recurring event (as the building scheduler) it often tells me the event has been successfully created, but it doesn't show up on the reservation calendar, even after refreshing, logging out and back in.
# Kent Price 2012-01-10 21:32
Rachel - it is not a reservation calendar like the old web site. It reserves rooms so no one can schedule during that time. If you schedule and event in the reservation calendar, then it won't let you schedule on your ward calendar. If you use the 'week' view instead of 'month' view it is suppose to show the other ward events in the same building. But out 'other' ward hasn't started using the calendar so I don't know if it works. I am not tech support, just a Bishop trying to figure this thing out. (and I am a programmer by profession). Nobody from LDSTech seems to be answering or monitoring this site.

Sorry, I had a filter set up in my email, and it was filtering out comments. The best place to ask questions about the calendar is the LDSTech Forum at

Rather than try to answer your questions here, in this thread, I recommend you post the question in the forum. Also, the help file has a lot of information about rights and roles. See

Basically, if you're a website admin, you should be an admin for the calendar. If you aren't, perhaps in MLS your calling isn't entered as a standard calling. Regardless, a ward or stake clerk can add you manually as an admin by going to Settings > Administrators.

Please post further questions and issues in the forum rather than this thread. You'll get a much faster response. Thanks for using the calendar.
# Kent Price 2012-01-18 12:21 is pretty useless. For calendar questions would I go into 'Emma' 'Meeting House Internet', or 'Church Finance' - you get the point. There are too many things there and nothing really listed as 'Calendar'
# Tom Johnson 2012-01-18 12:24
Ouch. I wouldn't say that at all about the LDSTech Forum. The calendar sub-forum has been one of the most active parts of LDSTech. See for details. Engineers on the calendar team regularly monitor the forum as well, but not the comments here.

If you have any outstanding questions about the calendar, you can ask them here and I will try to answer them.
