Html5

James, there is *a lot* to say about HTML5, and a lot of it is still in the air, but the main thing to understand is that it's entirely possible to implement sites in HTML5 *now.* Again, there are lots of ins and outs as to what that means. Suffice it to say, I want to tackle this gen app in as forw...

Html5

While I think Flex/Air is cool, trying to get away from proprietary stuff like Flash. More interested in using HTML5. By the way, I set up a master project on GitHub --> http://github.com/americanyak/Tribe There's not much going on here yet, mostly just setup with no content, but that's where the pr...

API Developers?

Is anyone out there interested in or actively engaged in any projects that are family search api-related or just genealogy related in general? I'm gearing up to get an open source project running on github (i should say, this is really my friend's endeavor, so i'm stealing his thunder just a little)...

My two cents: I think the Church will eventually figure out the huge benefits of adopting a social-networking like platform in many/most of their online service. I can think immediately of one potentially huge area that would benefit from such a network: genealogy. In a sense, the Church already ben...

RussellHltn : So I pretty much agree with your assessment. But I also think that you're referring more to the advent of the digital age, which was not prepared for the era of conversion and copy. It's becoming much more easy to both copy and convert formats. I *DO* think it will become easier and e...

Out of the books, a binding

Krista, I'm curious why you say "no one" thinks digital will outlast books...I'm extremely curious about this. To be frank, I have a hard time believing such. But I'm also interested in why you say such, since you have the librarian background. I should mention that I come from a family of librarian...

Welcome to the blissfull world of dynamic hypertext. The possibilities are endless. Getting back to the topic at hand, I *really, really, REALLY* think a scriptures API could be such an asset to both the Church and it's members.

Coolness.

WOW there's a lot going over my head here, even though I like to think I'm savvy to the next gen of Web 2.0 apps. But I'm seriously grateful that the Church is willing to let the tech dept. head this way with open source and web presence. I wish I could have attended the Tech Talks. Update : I think...
