A more modest request / hope would be - just a standalone vanilla version of the Gospel Library with good navigation and the ability to view the footnotes. The Internet version is great, but with my netbook, there are many times I do not have internet access. Is anybody aware of something like this...

The church has LDS View 7.1 which is the scriptures. At http://www.lds.org/manual/epub?lang=eng ,the manuals are available in electronic Epub format. There are free Epub readers available for the PC. From my experience and communicating with a few other Novel users, the stock Novels need to have Gospel Library sideloaded.
