Re: Modifying the EJ-10 Crab box
Do you happen to have the schematics or a reference link to them? I found one for the EJ-10 but not for the EJ-8. I opened the EJ-10 and started mapping out the circuit board but I haven't finished yet. The one I have is a different version thatn the one shown in your pic too. I think it is pretty c...

Re: Starting from Scratch, what would you recommend?
ksteurer: I am an ASTS in my stake and I have to tell you, any technical challenges aside, this post has me wanting to do this (simul-cast/multiple webcast locations) at our next stake conference sooo bad now. If for no other reason than to conquer the technical challenge! I just need to convince ou...

Re: Sony EVI-D70: Results of first Stake Conference Webcast
mwgbell, I don't believe that the video is being mixed at the laptop then send out from there in the above posts (someone correct if I am wrong). I have worked with Luis Puster before as well. He mentioned that if you have a video input device for your LT/PC you can send a feed to the LT/PC so you c...

Re: Next-Gen Meetinghouse Webcasting Project
We just finished our SC using the Teredek VidiU device. Our STS works at the Church with this stuff so we are always able to try all the widgets as they are coming out. I believe he actully conducts the STS training, if not one of his assistants, if I am not mistaken. The idea/benefit of the new tec...

Re: IR Over Cat5e to Sony EVI-D80 Confusion
In my many years of doing this I have used the IR Remotes, Joysticks (though not the RM-BR300), and a software solution. My preference in most desired to least desired: 1) Software . Hands down the most precise and responsive control and it is easy to use. I suppose it depends on the software. I use...

Re: Sony RS-422 control; finally working
aclawson, I feel your pain. We just finished another SC yesterday (2/1). I have been doing these for 6 years now and this was my 13th time doing this (2 per year). Over this time I have had my successes and many woes with RS232 and RS422. I have a few posts that discuss this topic on the forum. I am...

@RussellHltn: You and me both, but it works. Any other "recommended", "common sense" or "normal way" doesn't. The only thing I can perhaps figure is that the pin-out information in the Startech documentation is wrong...Here is the URL to the user manual. Check out page 4 . [INDENT] http://www.starte...

Finally figured out the RS422
Let us know if you find a solution (and what the solution is) for RS-422 to work with PCs and the EVI-D70. I worked on it for over a week and even purchased an RS-422 board for the computer. No luck so I ended up purchasing the Sony RM-BR300 remote. It was expensive but solved all problems and work...

Used RS232 instead
@RusselHtn We ended up not going completely remote and we setup the "control booth" in the overflow area off to the right near the video jack that feeds the system. It was just as well, try as I might I couldn't get the RS422 to work. This was even using daisy chain cables from an "insider" at the C...

Upcoming Conference, we have 2 D70s this time
I have a couple of questions regarding a multi-camera (2 in our case) setup: We have 2 D70s on their way this time from HQ to do different shots, etc. They are also sending a switch and a captioning device too. My question is two parts: I want to use the control software that lpuster has created to ...
