Re: Mass Texts
GroupMe seemed great for managing our priests list plus their parents except that if users do not chime back after a certain number of messages they stop receiving messages. So it is a pain to roll out to the whole young mens because everyone has to say, "thanks" to acknowledge each messag...

Re: Best way to track Sacrament Meeting talks
Dean is referring to this document, I believe: https://www.lds.org/help/support/meetinghouse-policy?lang=eng 4.9.4 The use of cloud-based services for storing and/or backing up MLS or any membership related data is prohibited. A partial list of members and certain birthdays may be "membership r...

Re: Best way to track Sacrament Meeting talks
Adding new years was a problem so I've received periodic requests to update the spreadsheet so it doesn't break every year. Here is a new version where the tabs aren't labeled 2020, 2021, etc, just current year, last year. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jjJi24BpaPaRotCI-9rimsHvSr06bCsQVEwoS...

Re: Best way to track Sacrament Meeting talks
The theory of this would be that it would live in google docs so that everyone in the bishopric could see it in real time. So if you try exporting it to Excel, I don't know if the SQL expressions will work. If you prefer Excel, you might be able to convert it to a vllookup? In google sheets the rang...

Re: Caller ID for iOS app, via Apple CallKit
Upon more reflection, I’m guessing that the database tables of the LDS tools app are encrypted in a way that would not play well with CallKit. I’m guessing the database is designed for cross platform operations and wouldn’t be re-written just to accommodate this feature—as much as I want it. Does th...

Re: Mass Texts
Our youth organization use text messages managed by GroupMe because of the ability both for leaders to add and remove people as the age out of classes and for the users to unsubscribe themselves. Most youth can receive texts but are on all manner of social media platforms so we can't standardize. ht...

Re: Staples Account
I encourage you to price check staples. We regretted using Staples. If you have someone in the ward who can buy online or at Costco and be reimbursed it is always better. We're in a high sales tax state and it is still better to use Costco than Staples. (We have a Walmart tax exempt status, but I do...
