Reluctantly, I went ahead and installed Java 1.6 and it worked... I guess if the devs are all busy working on the web-based Indexing project, nobody has the time/inclination to update the current Indexer to a bit more moden JRE..

One of the ward members who I moved to Linux a few years ago saw a prompt on her computer to upgrade it from XUbuntu 12.04 to 14.04, so she clicked it, and then walked away, and forgot about it. Along comes hubby and noticing the laptop was still turned on but with a screen blanker, turned it off.. ...

Am trying to install FSI on Debian/Testing (Jessie) 64bit.. Tried the listed script... Apparently, even though Ubuntu is based on Debian/testing, there is *something* different... The FS Indexing app is not tested with the OpenJDK JRE, so I doubt that you'll get a firm answer on this. However, it sounds like you're skilled with Ubuntu, and so it shouldn't be that hard for you to swap out the JRE and give it a try. As soon as the holidays are over, I'll get with the one user ...
