Update

richalger wrote:I also would like to know if there is any update? Is there a way for parents and leaders to see the progress of the Young Men?

Is there an update on tracking for YM Duty to God (or definitive word from LDS Technology employees that it will not happen)?

But Sharing doesn't have to be in quorum

There are no check-off boxes planned for Duty to God. Tracking comes from sharing, which is the premise on which Duty to God is built. Different functionality than Personal Progress. This would be fine if the sharing was in Quorum only (but DtG clearly states that sometimes...

OPENDNS works just fine

Opendns will not work with the Cisco Hardware that we use. Besides the problem of security, it would be against church policy to run open/dyndns at a site. We use the cisco hardware (pricey, yet secure) instead of just whatever hardware specifically for security reasons. OpenDNS works just fine wit...

It works

...getting documentation back from landlords seems to be a problem - at least for this unit. The stake president has counseled with the Bishop and I have discussed the matter with the clerk but the unit has now been written up for the same issue. So, do any of you have a method or sure fire way of ...

Using Stake and Ward Web Sites

I have used this page to find unit numbers: -http://www.lds.org/units/find/0,12831,2311-1,00.html For example if I search for the Orem Park Stake I get this page: -https://secure.lds.org/units/stake/1,9780,606-1-5-123456,00.html? The unit number is then embedded in the URL - 123456 (actual number re...

Thanks - interesting reading. I am going to get approval from the Stake President after outlining pros/cons and let you know what happens.

The advantages would be to restrict access beyond that provided by "General Access" that is provided by the LDS firewall (the FHC is it's first user). For example I was just able to get access to b a b e.com through the LDS Firewall (configured for FHC use) and I although this site is gen...

I can't say as I've ever seen that function on a broadband modem. If it was also a router, I would expect that possibility. However, it might be better to turn the router off - it's just an unnecessary layer. The DSL modem is a netopia one and it has a slick web interface that allows one to make ch...

The stake does not have access to the internals of the Church firewall. Unless GSD is willing to do that, it's out of the question. I understand that but if the DNS servers are not being redirected by the firewall - they could be easily set on the DSL Modem itself - or at the very least on the Wire...

Church DNS servers/Use of opendns

All, We are configuring the various buildings for internet access including allowing wireless access to approved individuals for presentations at stake training meetings, etc. At home I have been sucessfully using www.opendns.com for my DNS servers and have found it quite convienent to manage blocki...
