virtualize ward pc's?

Had there been any discussion about virtualizing the ward pc's and using thin clients? I'd think the centralized management would make things convenient.

thin clients - capital savings

I would be interested to know if the Church has considered moving to a thin client solution for local units with a virtual infrustructure on the back end...I have seen the benefit of this in small and large businesses...either running on a local lan or across the wan.

The company I work for uses afaria to push out these kind of updates...it's design is for slow connections and does it very well. Probably doesn't matter these days with high speed internet. But I am interested in what the Church uses for systems management or asset tracking.

afaria

At one time the church managed updates through the afaria channels...is that no longer in practise? it would seem to me that would be the best option and for the church to ensure the updates were installed.

blackberry...not scripture related :)

I use my blackberry a LOT!!! I am a systems guy so I have no idea how to do this but I think it'd be great to have an LDSTECH app for my bb. I follow the site by RSS on Viigo (free). Is there an RSS feed for the Forums? Am I missing it?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I am concerned about what my kids see online...and in any game i'm also concerned what my kids might see/hear if i am online. it is not enough to wait till the kids are in bed... I use all the parental controls in the game i play. I will also sit with my children as they get online to play their gam...

getting files on bb

One other way to do this...if you don't have the desktop manager...as I do not have on my personal laptop...is to open the zip file, attach the files to an email, open that email on your bb and download the attachment. That's the way I got them on my bb.

Cheers!!!
