This issue should be resolved as of the latest Gospel Library Android release (v2.1.4.9 on Jan 29 2013).

This has been confirmed to be a problem with the Gospel Library for Android app. I've coded a fix that will be released as soon as it can be adequately tested. Thanks for reporting the issue.

Audio/video playback will be available in the next release (2.2.0), which should be available within 2-3 weeks.

The app is now in the Barnes & Noble store (has been for a while now), so there is no longer a need to side-load.
