What's the best solution to fall back to the normal POTS line and ensure that if the technology goes haywire the line can be freed up for a 911 call even if it were up until that point 'off hook' on the Asterisk box? There are ATA's that have both and FXO and a FXS port on them - you can then confi...

We had an extra computer, so we're tinkering with the idea of setting up Asterisk to replace the branch answering machine. We thought we could have it prompt to leave messages in various mail boxes and then e-mail them as attachments to the appropriate leader (the BP, FHC director, mission leader, ...

Also it would be great to have a RSS feed that members could subscribe to - maybe even a feed for each category and a combined feed. I know that i am more likely to read news in my RSS agrigator than going to a ...

a VoIP solution would eliminate the need for hardware. It would also allow for concurrent calls as most VoIP providers bill by the minute rather than concurrent connections. A single SIP connection using a low bandwith codec uses about 8 to 10 kbs plus a little bit of overhead for the call control -...

Just some thoughts - First of all I think this thread is exactly why this will be a great site. A member had an excellent idea, shared it on the forum, discussed, then the church IT saw the benefit and decided to look into the possibility of adopting the code. I hope everything works out and that th...

Great Idea

This is one of the better idea's i've seen in a long time. This would increase the usability of the member list in the ward website by a lot. I put my ward in and was impressed how well it worked. It was cool to get a feel for where every one lived. Some ideas how else it could be used in combinatio...
