Re: Getting Audio right with Virtual Sacrament Meeetings

The only issue we have is the organ does not sound good. I know they are tied into the building's sound system, but I am not sure if they are routed to the record out. The organ in older buildings is not tied into the building sound system at all. You are probably hearing the organ speakers through...

Re: Webcast Encoder URL update - Release Notes

I tried it earlier, the new encoder setup wasn't working/mapping correctly (as of about 1:00 PM PST), but now (4:30 PM PST) it's working for me...

Re: Anyone still using wirecast?

Anything dbx. The 166 and 266 series have many variants that might be an option, all depends on what you want to spend. Lots of used outboard out there...

Re: Anyone still using wirecast?

The SE30 is an old broadcast limiter (10:1) some used back in the 1970s for sports and similar events, it later found some favor in a few recording studios as a bit of an audio "mangler." Not sure if you are actually using this unit on your broadcasts, if so there are much better options o...

Re: Mi Box S beta program

...we get much better quality video from the internet than the satellite. For what it's worth, the Church upgraded the satellite frame last year to 1080i. Huge improvement in picture quality. You just have to find a way to get that signal from the satellite receiver/rack to your projector--that's t...

A gated compressor? I wouldn't recommend any gating on program material. Gentle compression, yes. Gating, no...

Re: Anyone still using wirecast?

I still use Wirecast, in fact it's all I use. Real time video program monitoring, along with an accurate audio meter. Teradek Vidiu has neither. Biggest issue for me is the audio, you're flying blind without a good meter...

Re: Is the Church Satellite System capable of HD?

This change to HD happened sooner than I thought it would. The frame is now 1080i. HDCP is enabled on the HDMI output, I've seen issues with a Blonder Tongue HD modulator that will not pass an HDCP-encrypted signal. One way around this is to use the component outputs on the receiver, which support 1...

Re: Is the Church Satellite System capable of HD?

No, the satellite system does not currently broadcast anything beyond a 480i SD frame. I do believe the church is mulling some higher definition satellite options, but there are no imminent changes that I'm aware of. While the receivers are capable, there would likely be additional BW/uplink expense...

Re: Fun experimentation with audio

The logic is handled by the mixer, however it is not configurable. The perimeter areas of the building (foyers, cry room, RS, etc) will always be fed either the chapel or the cultural hall audio (whichever is turned on), with the chapel always taking priority.
