Re: Guaranteed traffic for leadership?
I'd love to see what use-cases this SP has that is impacting the ability to do his calling that doesn't also apply to members of the wards unable to do their callings. I'd imagine it has to do with LCR. We haven't heard yet what the ISP bandwidth is. Perhaps this building just shouldn't have WiFi -...

Re: Guaranteed traffic for leadership?
It takes FM budget money to hire the contractors, so if funds are tight it may have to be budgeted in for a future year, but this is who the stake president and/or PFR should be dealing with. I applaud your creative thinking, but there's only so much an STS can do. IMO, hard wiring all the ward off...

Re: Guaranteed traffic for leadership?
Or turn off the AP’s assuming that the Clerk computers are hard wired to the network? The stake center building is old enough that it did not come with any in-wall wiring. The stake clerk's office has a hard-wired connection obviously added after the fact in a conduit from the drop ceiling, but the...

Re: New Successful Filter Test Page
It would also be nice if the wording on the filtering test page could be improved. As stake technology specialist, I recently got called out to investigate a failed financial audit item for a brand new ward clerk, where they claimed that they had failed the filtering test. My investigation showed th...

Guaranteed traffic for leadership?
I'm serving as Stake Technology Specialist. I received a request from my stake president asking if there is any possible way that I could configure the system in the stake center such that there were guaranteed bandwidth available to the leadership. Basically, since he is at the building for several...

Re: church-branded URL shortening
You have a fair point about a branded shortener being abused if it can point to arbitrary locations by an arbitrary person. But it is possible to create a branded shortener that will refuse to create a short link unless the person attempting to create a link has proper authentication rights (such as...

church-branded URL shortening
My ward was previously using the URL shortening service tr.im (in part because the church firewalls blocked bit.ly at the time we started sharing a shortened link), but tr.im recently went out of business, and invalidated all shortened URLs that had gone through their site, including the link that w...

troubleshooting missing role-based access
As stake technology specialist, I got a call from a brother in one of the wards that was recently sustained as 1st counselor in his ward's elders quorum, but cannot access ministering assignments on the LCR website. I'm trying to figure out what additional troubleshooting steps we can try (it may ne...
