Re: Meetinghouse Internet Problems

My solution is simple. Don't use church wifi. I'd personally shut it down if it was up to me as in our area most people have phones and the cellular networks have good coverage at our buildings. The building with the worst problems is with ATT Uverse. It's under repair now so maybe it will improve ...

Re: Meetinghouse Internet Problems

Oh, I have the ability to disable the wifi but to do so permanently I'd of course need the Stake President to approve. I might ask for it honestly. At this point though I just wonder why the Church even bothers to pay for any of this given how unusable it's become in most cases (at least for our bui...

Re: Meetinghouse Internet Problems

It's not a matter of rebooting anything. The service was all downgraded some time ago by the FM support group and now we routinely get as low as 1-2 mbps on the dsl/uverse (used to be 40,50 mbits) and < 10 on Comcast even after fresh power cycling of everything. I have little visibility anymore as t...

Re: Meetinghouse Internet Problems

These forums appear dead but in case anyone sees this is the Internet access at all of your buildings abymal now? The last year or so it's been so slow I just wish they would cancel it. I measure at most 2-3 mbps at each building when no-one is there and constantly field questions about why its so s...

Re: Wireless dropping/reconnecting

Turns out the APs are NOT to blame. They actually work great when I took out the firewall. Church did send a new firewall but so far tech support is unable to get the web interface on it to come up. Might have to get YET another new one (even though this one is brand new). Hence I guess one answer t...

Re: Bad batch of 881W Firewalls?

I'm in a bash Cisco mood so I'll contribute to this. Heck yeah we've had issues with them. All of our buildings now have had at least 3 of the 881s and one is on it's third. They are complete junk in my opinion. I recommended you surge protect it's power supply in (kinda no-brainer there) but also i...

Re: Wireless dropping/reconnecting

Latest I've heard from Salt Lake is that this problem is becoming more widespread and they gave me an open ticket on it. I'm starting to suspect the firewall more than just the 1041s (3rd 881 firewall we've had at this building) as the members are reporting to me that they also are losing wired acce...

Re: Church internet connectivity woes (possible 881w issue)

Yeah, I've been told that too about the 1041's but they DON"T sense each other and avoid conflicts, at least not in our buildings. The are plugged directly into the Cisco firewall too (ie: no switch in the way) and I've even reset them and had them reprogram themselves while connected directly ...

Re: Wireless dropping/reconnecting

Might be. Seems the ipads have the worst time of it. Might need to see if there is some app out there that would help debug the issue.
