Auto-cross referencer Back up

I had this down for awhile while I moved from San Jose to Alpharetta, GA.

It's back though:

I plan on improving it in the near future.

Yeah, I guess I thought of the social annotation as more of a "family bible" thing. Not meant for a group much outside your family, kind of like a journal. Kind of like Adam's Book of Remembrance from Moses 6:5: 5 And a book of remembrance was kept, in the which was recorded, in the language of Adam...

I had a suggestion on drilling down.

In Harold Stuart's Handy Scriptures for the palm, you just type out the book you want to go to, and it auto-completes as you go.

So if I type 2 Ne, it knows that's second Nephi and completes it, etc.

Something else I've noticed, it slows down a lot on phrases, so it's probably best to just pick a single word for now. Pick the more important word in the phrase you're searching on.

Ajax Auto-Cross-Referencing

OK, so I have a new version of my auto-cross referencer. This one is a little fancier because I used ruby on rails and a little simple ajax to make it easier to use. And yes, I am just using WEBrick... http://menkefamily.no-ip.org:3000/book/ The main thing is you can see the verse before you put in ...

FYI, I slightly modified the term weights: I changed: term_weight_map[text] = 1-freq*1.0/searcher.maxDoc() to term_weight_map[text] = 1-freq*4.0/searcher.maxDoc() The most common word (outside the normal english stop words) is "unto" which appears in over 11,000 verses. By quadrupling the commanlity...

OK, here is the source code. It's also available here for now: http://menkefamily.no-ip.org/MatchVerses.pys You still need a Lucene index and PyLucece to use it. #!/usr/bin/env python from PyLucene import QueryParser, IndexSearcher, StandardAnalyzer, FSDirectory, Term, QueryTermExtractor from PyLuce...

Hey, thanks. Yeah, I don't do anything nearly as fancy as the scriptures.lds.org search yet. I mean, I don't handle alternate spellings, synonyms, word conjugations, or even mispellings. Those would all improve the results. As for open source, I'll clean up the code a little and then post it either ...

First, the usage is different. When you type "faith" into lds.org's search, you want general results on faith. Perhaps the most "relevant" or common results from a "PageRank" point of view. Here, the usage is instead you reading the scriptures or a verse like Alma 32:21 and wanting to see other vers...
