Re: How to request new internet service
I've found as an STS having a good relationship with your FM is invaluable. Our FM pretty much takes my recommendations on anything related to tech at this point because I have a proven track record with her of getting the job done and done right. Also, I'm super jealous that you have google fiber a...

Re: Simultaneous hosting of Zoom meetings
As I understand from other threads related to this topic that two meetings can be run simultaneously but requires the first meeting to be handed off to another host before starting the second meeting. I guess that means the same person cannot host two meetings at once but the account can host two m...

Re: Ideas for a stake-wide webcast
It's mid August at this point, and I expect that the OP's meeting has already happened. I'd like to hear how it went? A couple of months ago, we streamed a zoom meeting for Seminary Graduation (spanned multiple stakes) and did so to Youtube. It mostly went off well. There were a couple of hiccups: I...

Some thoughts on the web centric leadership resources
I had a Relief Society President text me today because she couldn't find the leadership resources section on the church website and needed to submit a food order before she left town tomorrow. Luckily, I remembered that last week when I logged into the site on my laptop, the church site appeared a l...

Re: YouTube is out
I finally got an official answer during a phone call with HQ. YouTube will remain unblocked however the church firewall enforced YouTube’s safe-search protocol which gives unreliable results for live-streams. The system can’t detect the content of a live stream so sometimes it will just block it co...

Re: no access to food orders
I'm Debra's STS. We got her squared away. However, this leads me to some issues/frustrations I've had lately with supporting members as we move to this more web-centric leadership model. I'll write up my rant and post it in another thread rather than hijack this one.

Re: Audio backup
I don't know about in your area, but at least in ours the FM was directed to keep at least 1 line active for safety reasons. In our buildings, that is the foyer line. We use that one for our audio backups, and disconnect the foyer phone for the broadcast. Check with your FM to see if that is the cas...

Re: Alternative to Webcasting using a bridge
There are actually HDMI over ethernet extenders that work over IP. Those are fairly inexpensive ($75 for a sender/receiver pair, $35 for a single receiver). The sender does basically a multi-cast over an IP network.

Re: YouTube is out
I for one wish they'd let us keep a short-term copy. The reason is this: When I'm producing a broadcast, I'm focused on the tech of the broadcast not necessarily the message, checking overflow rooms, monitoring the internet connection and broadcast, chatting with the remote site(s) to verify things ...

Re: Meetinghouse DNS Setting Changes
Has anyone else had issues with computers losing their DNS settings periodically? I went through all my buildings today and made sure the DNS was set for computers I had moved to static IP's. I tested each computer after I put in the DNS addresses. In at least 2 cases, the computers lost the changes...
