Re: Family History Center Computers
I have 5 PCs in one of the FHCs in our stake. Other than the previous STS, who would know how many of those are "church supplied" and how many are "donated'? All "official" ones should typically have a Church/FamilySearch asset tag sticker on them somewhere that identifies ...

Re: Windos 10 Activation Key
I just upgraded our 2 of our Windows 7 Pro computers to Windows 10 in our FHC. Both are asking for a Windows 10 Activation Key. I spoke with support once but what they had me do did not fix the issue and now they're not calling me back. Must be really busy. ANyone else run into this issue and have ...

Re: Windos 10 Activation Key
I have Dell optiplex 9030's, which were bought in the age of Windows 10.. and are very capable of running it (although slow, it would have been better if they had been smart an purchased SSD's) So you are telling me.... I can't upgrade to the free Windows 10 this should have been purchased with? Mo...

Re: Supported Software
For what it's worth, though, IrfanView is a lot more powerful that the built-in Windows image viewer (especially if you install the plugins), and it does seem to be a popular choice as far as locally-installed software goes. It's true that FS won't support it, but that just means it's all on you if ...

Re: My “LDS-Ancestry Membership” subscription changed to a “Registered Guest” subscription.
I believe there's an article on this: https://familysearch.org/ask/productSupport#/What-is-the-best-way-to-contact-Ancestry-for-help-with-my-FamilySearch-account I've heard of these linkage things breaking before and it seems that it does ultimately have to be handled from the Ancestry side, but som...

Re: Sophos reinstallation on official FHC computers
It's been eons since I've called support, but it used to be you had to do some serious arm-twisting to get escalated to an actual staff member. Try this script: I have done everything you asked me to do and the problem is not resolved. Who should I speak with next? Please connect me. I've been told...

Re: Sophos reinstallation on official FHC computers
Maybe I should check the versions on my computers - just to make sure they're all the same and presumably current. It seems an easy way to tell is that the taskbar icon for the "old" version has a blue S and shield outline on a white background, while the "new" version (which sh...

Re: Upgrade PC from Win 7 to Win 10 - Sophos
The Sophos of the familysearch.org/remote says its incompatible when I try to install it on a FHC Windows 10 computer. The version in the FHC Application Finder does install, but disappears as soon as it does an app upgrade (not definition upgrade). Looks like I will need to use Windows Defender un...

Re: Deep Freeze questions
Deep Freeze is no longer licensed or distributed by FS - apparently because of some compatibility issues with Win10 (probably including the spontaneous boot-loop problem) and some other critical software. But if it was, it would have likely still been in the FHC App Finder. Hopefully they'll evaluat...
