my short, but probably not useful answers
Best part of tech.lds.org: That it exists at all. There is *somewhere* to find out about technology issues, solutions, and policies related to the church. Worst part: that I disagree with about 90% of the solutions and policy decisions. :) Seriously, I have a hard time finding good bug tracking and ...

I fully, wholeheartedly, disagree with this request, and hope the developers pay it no mind. Sadly, I think people try to solve a social problem (accessing inappropriate content on the web) with a purely technological solution (disabling a browser et al.). Such solutions never work for long, and wit...

Someone built a Roku Channel that includes Mormon Channel content
It uses the "private channel" functionality of the Roku SDK. I found it the other day, and it's pretty great. Here's the home page for the channel (which includes dozens of other audio and video sources as well):

You're proposing a 21st century solution to an organization that is technologically still trying to come to grips with the late 1990s. I personally love the idea; it's forward thinking and scalable, but I'm pessimistic about the chances for success or adoption. For example, my meeting house still ha...

I don't mean to be a wet blanket on a tangent, but...
This was mentioned in conjunction to a comment about priesthood leaders expressing concern that under this access that youth might spend sacrament meeting browsing Facebook etc on their iPhones (which, btw I would be concerned about too). Anyone with an iPhone already has access to the internet ove...

Another request
Provide alternate live-streaming technology, like SHOUTcast (mp3s streaming). I'm having a hard time getting my software and "internet radio-enabled" hardware to play get the mms streamed wma files. I know the data distributor *requires* wma over mms. This seems to me like one ought to inv...

What are your thoughts on the future of podcasting and what would it take to make it successful viable video option? In my opinion: (1) Better, cheaper bandwidth HD (even SD) video files are enormous, compared to web surfing. The majority of people aren't willing to pay the money it costs to get fa...

My opinion Here's my rule of thumb for what goes in the newsletter: (1) Anything that anyone want's to put in the weekly Sacrament Mtg program, that isn't the actual Sacrament Meeting program that week, or an event occurring in the forthcoming week. So pretty much move all the other clutter, content...
