Re: New TM feature -Speedtest
Just an interesting item to be aware of when using the speedtest option in the firewall web interface. The speedtest function in the web interface measures the speed of the network at which the browser is located, not where the firewall is located. To gather accurate speedtest information I had to b...

Sacrament Tools
So a few years back I wrote a PHP/MySQL site that allowed a branch president to manage his sacrament meetings. He could record who would speak, their topics, who gave prayers, business, announcements, etc. Then he could view reports of the last date members spoke, gave prayers, when hymns were sung...

Since it is now 2008 what was your evaluation of your 2007 goals? Did you succeed in all your goals? Did you exceed the goal, just get it done, maybe need more work, or was a goal a complete waste of time? What did you learn from working on your 2007 goals? What would you do differently? What would ...

Virus Avoidance
I would encourage anyone concerned with virus and like problems to try linux (fedora, debian, knoppix, ubunto, kubunto all excellent). Just as important as using first rate tools is learning and training to understand how to use the tools . The comunity has a lot of howtos and kindly folks willing to...

Desktop Slow Downs
I am hearing a lot of complaints from the clerks that the computers have slowed significantly since Desktop 5.5. All our units have the Dells issued by the church. Anybody seeing any slowdown? Mike Definately there were some problems. On our machine printing was printing at about 8 pages per minute...

MLS as a jump start
I like the idea of using MLS as a message jump starter. Asking a clerk to pass a message along to a Bishop or a group of people would be slow but for my Ward it would work. In my Ward the rule of HT/VT stats and callings is if it does not get entered into the computer (the official records) it did n...

secure web app
A questions for the web designers. Since web transactions are basically stateless - What is the current preferred secure practice to pass information between web transactions? cookies, hidden fields, local storage into a database? SSL will encrypt the data the last step. The in between step is the c...

scout tracking
I am slowly working on a tracking program. It is setup to track a lot more than just scout advancement. Right now it is to early to setup a source repository or a formal project. If I can get to the 0.9 stage I'll be happy to share. The license I plan to use is GPL v3. The base concern I have is to ...

Scout tracking software
How about listing how you consider to be the base requirements for the package. Do you want to limit the package to just scouts or do you want to include YW, Duty ot God, Adult Scout awards, Primary awards and other programs? I'd like the program to cover things like trip permits, permission slips, ...
