Re: Sharing out experience with Virtual Sacrament Meeting Broadcasts

What type of cable are you using for connection to the record out jack? We used the assistive hearing devices to loop the chapel audio directly to our camera audio input with much success, but at the older building in our stake this didn’t work too well because the devices there are antiquated and ...

Re: Sharing out experience with Virtual Sacrament Meeting Broadcasts

Open Broadcaster Software is not Windows-specific. I runs on Linux and macOS 10.13+ according to this page: https://obsproject.com/ There are even instructions at the bottom of this page https://obsproject.com/wiki/install-instructions#linux to install (or build) it for FreeBSD. I don't know whethe...

Re: Sharing out experience with Virtual Sacrament Meeting Broadcasts

Hi All, I'm blending several ideas from this thread with an additional spice of my own that I think some might find useful. I just performed a successful stream test from home using Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) to push an RTMP stream to the Church's Azure media servers with an event set for high-...

Re: Sharing out experience with Virtual Sacrament Meeting Broadcasts

For two of the buildings, we use a Zoom meeting (one for each building) linked into the Church webcast system via the High Bandwidth Encode option. @dbaresrc - can you send me the link on how to set this up? Apparently I don't participate in these forums enough to PM you. :( @dbaresrc - Me too plea...

Re: Sharing out experience with Virtual Sacrament Meeting Broadcasts

I've been putting together notes on how I put the entire setup together here https://github.com/TechnoSwiss/broadcast_pi 1) Is there some reason you decided to compile ffmpeg rather than point to a repository and download a precompiled binary? 2) I like your approach except for the Youtube part of ...

Re: Erasing hard drives with BleachBit

Here's what I got from MHT: TL;DR - They're working on a solution. Meanwhile, use whatever you think is a "good solution for your calling". The solution from bretep seems to be fair game to use, though completely unvetted by MHT. I'm using it and it appears to get the job done. Thanks bret...

Re: Erasing hard drives with BleachBit

While I agree the Church should update their recommendation, you should know the software I wrote is not haphazard, as it is my profession to write software you use every day. I'll take your word on your capabilities, but I shouldn't have to put this task into the hands of someone I don't know, and...

Re: Erasing hard drives with BleachBit

It's odd to me that the official instructions https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/help/support/erasing-hard-drive?lang=eng still list BleachBit 2.2 as the hard drive wiping tool. The Sophos antivirus/antimalware software detects BleachBit as "Malicious Behavior" shortly after attempting to...

Re: D80 Camera Discontinued

We still have D70's in our Stake, and it drives me crazy to deal with the SD to HD aspect ratio issues introduced by the upconverter and Vidiu equipment we've been provided. The speakers at the remote sites appear fat and squatty. Would love to upgrade our SD setup! One thing I'm curious about regar...

Re: Video freeze

I spoke too soon. Just observed a 1 second freeze during Elder Eyring's talk that included audio disturbance too!
