Great to see the new LDS Maps!

As one keenly interested in this technology, I'm thrilled to see this tool coming to light. Thanks to all involved in bringing this forward!

I think the suggested additions/changes are right on track. I like the idea of LDSAccount integration so member and leadership can see boundaries, member households (color coded by quorums/classes), home teaching groupings, temples, etc. Can't wait to see this put into Production!

Writing

The question is where is it writing it to? Vista get unhappy with things being written to C:\Program Files. If the script can be modified to write to %TEMP%, %APPDATA%, or somewhere under %ALLUSERSPROFILE% then you should be good. The script writes to C:\ (your root). Easy enough to change - just o...

Vista adaptation

To be honest, I'm not sure, since I don't have Vista, I can't test it. All it is doing is writting an HTML file with the appropriate javascript. If you visit the Windows Scripting link on the URL referenced on my site, there is likely some documentation about writing WSH on Vista. Others in this for...

WardMap file updated

I'm creating a new post as I'm afraid my update in the following thread is buried and rarely referenced. Several individuals continue to use my WardMap script to run on their local computer. I've recently received quite a few emails from people complaining that the VBS file I wrote to generate Yahoo...

Updated WardMap VBS file

I've recently received quite a few emails from people complaining that the VBS file I wrote to generate Yahoo! WardMaps no longer works. I finally had some time to look into this and have updated the code to work with Yahoo!'s latest API. You can download the new file at the following site: http://w...

How soon is soon?

In the quote below by Joel, he states "In the near future we'll also plot ward membership information". This is something that local ward leadership is really anxious for! Folks love the current maps.lds.org, but most of them don't need to check where their chapel is weekly - or monthly - or yearly....

VERY rewarding!

Last year Kevandcan woke us up to the potential of the community. This year we will plan to get serious about kicking off some open source projects. It has taken us a few years to get to the point we're ready, but we are just about there. In the meantime, check out the new beta app we just released...

BTW, I finally got Kevin Ball's script to run on my XP machine. It never did work for me because of issues with IE7, apparently. But Firefox handles it fine. So I now can better appreciate Kevin's original invention, which started this whole thread. Some of us (me included) have sort of hijacked th...

Troubleshooting

When I first tried to get it to run, I had the same error, and I seem to remember that the permissions were not set correctly in the Adobe software. You also have to make sure that you allow the ActiveX plugin to run. Hope this helps. First off, it's wonderful to see the 100s of folks who download ...
