Re: Satellite dish removal

Even after reading the email and contacting our FM contact, I'm still confused. Maybe I'm just being dense. ;-) Is it saying that our existing satellite receivers might be capable of being connected to the network and function as streaming media receivers? Or are we going to need to request streamin...

Re: First of several questions - hum / hiss in audio

I ran into a high-pitched noise when using the building audio for YouTube streaming. Fortunately, I was using OBS, which had noise filters. I applied the noise filter and that took care of 95% of it.

Re: Hotspot or Cell Phone Bandwidth for Streaming

Our FM group has provided Cradlepoint LTE routers in place of DSL in several of our buildings. We're getting 12Mb down and 3.5Mb up. It's working great for YouTube streaming and Zoom meetings.

Re: Sharing out experience with Virtual Sacrament Meeting Broadcasts

We did our first virtual sacrament meeting yesterday. I used OBS on my laptop, a Logitech BC950 webcam and streamed it to YouTube. Other than people sounding muffled because of their masks, it worked great. It didn't really provide the members the opportunity to see each other, so next week I'm goin...

Take a look at FreeConferenceCall.com. It has the same features as Zoom and GotoMeeting, but it is actually free. You can add services for an extra charge such as a dedicated phone number or toll-free numbers.

Re: Incorrect Address when generating Statement of Contributions

A member of our ward had that issue (contributions statement) and we did a support message. Support provided an email address where the member could send a message asking them to correct the issue. I'm not at the building so I can't provide the email, but a support message should get you a similar r...

Firewall Zones

Greetings, Before the firewall change, we had a VPN zone that was used for the Family History Center. Now, after the firewall replacement, we have 3 zones, USER, FAC and SP. So, the USER zone has been what we used for APs, etc. As I understand it, the FAC zone is for the FM group's use for future sm...

Re: Why is our Dell shutting off?

We ran into a similar issue. The energy settings were set for sleep and hibernation, but nothing about actually shutting down. I thought perhaps it was a Windows Update issue with an updating running and causing it to reboot. I turned off all the energy saving settings temporarily to make sure it do...

Re: Calling Change Notifications for Stake Leaders

I think that is a great idea. I've thought the same thing myself. Stake Leaders in our stake have requested many, many times that wards let them know when presidencies change so they can provide needed training. It just seems to be one of those things that gets loss in the shuffle.

Re: Problem with myldsmail servers...

Maybe it's because I'm an IT guy, but I can understand how problems can occur in a large IT infrastructure like the Church has. I'm confident that the IT department is working diligently to address the cause of this issue. I'm sure many of them were missionaries or had their own children serve so th...
