Re: Moderating political posts in ward-oriented social media groups

Thank you guys for your help, but pointing to group rules often ENCOURAGES more argument, rather than stops it. By that I mean that the argument changes from why we removed their posts, to why do we have a rule that (in their view) violates the First Amendment and the Church's position on the Consti...

Moderating political posts in ward-oriented social media groups

We've been running a ward Facebook group for years as per guidelines once outlined on internet.churchofjesuschrist.org. The guidance at that subdomain has changed and is less detailed than before — which in some ways is a shame. We have some members who post highly partisan political comments in the...

Re: Availability of Zoom licenses for local unit virtual meetings

... I like this approach, because it leaves the stewardship in the unit’s hands, Not mine. We leave the Zoom accounts in the hands of the wards too, not ours, but we've done the task-specific gmail accounts as suggested. Not all the bishops in our stake are tech savvy. In fact, some very much are n...

Re: Availability of Zoom licenses for local unit virtual meetings

Update: I did it! I did it! I did it! :) I was finally able to assign the 12 licenses for our YSA stake to task-specific gmail addresses by: • temporarily making a young single adult whose records are in the YSA stake the "Stake Assistant Clerk--Technology Specialist", • temporarily removi...

Re: Availability of Zoom licenses for local unit virtual meetings

All, We are still working with Zoom to figure out why certain accounts are not transferring as expected. I don't expect to have much more from them this week. If you really need the Church-provided Zoom account this weekend, please submit an alternative email address during the account creation pro...

Re: Availability of Zoom licenses for local unit virtual meetings

The YSA stake clerk made him "Stake Assistant Clerk--Technology Specialist". It takes time for the rights to go though the system. We usually advise 24 hours, but I think some people here saw it took longer. That would be consistent with "meet" only seeing the Google option and ...

Re: Availability of Zoom licenses for local unit virtual meetings

Keep in mind there is only ONE account for each ward. As such, you might want to place it in the hands of the bishop (or perhaps the Executive Secretary) and steer clear of the EQ and RS presidents. Let the bishop decide how they will be accommodated. Yes, of course I know that. :) They are bugging...

Re: Availability of Zoom licenses for local unit virtual meetings

When you log in to https://meet.chuchofjesuschrist.org you'll be presented with two large option boxes, one will say "Zoom Accounts for Church Units" and the other will say "A Google Meet Account". If you don't have these options available to you make sure your calling, as the S...

Re: Borrowing tables and chairs

I was hoping someone had an answer on this. We have had members take many round tables and chairs from the building for a wedding reception in their yard at home, only to have another ward sharing the building who scheduled the cultural hall discover their event doesn't have adequate tables and chai...

[Moderator note: I split this post from this topic , since that discussion was about which callings had access to certain HT/VT information, and this is a different issue] You raise some good issues. To make sure that the right people see this, use the Feedback link (found near the bottom of each p...
