Re: Question about genealogy
FamilySearch and Ancestry.com work differently. On Ancestry, each person has their own individual tree. On FamilySearch, there is one global tree that everyone participates in as a collaborative effort. That said, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can gain access to Ancestr...

Re: Windows 10 21H1
Yes -- FamilySearch support 866-406-1830 option 5 - 2 will tell you they want all FHC's to accept all Windows 10 updates, even if they are marked "Optional" (which 21H1 is/was).

Re: Family History Activity Report - Are only Baptisms counted?
No, I've been told it is when the ordinance reservation is actually printed (or claimed to be printed). That applies to any ordinance, and is what goes into the FHAR. I have been an FHC director over 10 stakes for nearly 5 years now. But I could still be wrong. Check with the FamilySearch Community ...

Re: Historical Mission Boundaries Map
Good idea -- I'd be interested in it too. Because sometimes I read in an old obituary that says the person served in "the eastern states mission". But to pinpoint that on an ancestor's FamilySearch profile as a 2-year place of residence (thus showing up as a pin-point on his timeline map),...

Re: shorthand for displaying my relationship
I would like to know if there is a method to generate a shorthand e.g. ahnentafel notation when viewing my relationship to a given person. Right now I see only a graphic display and would like something less cumbersome for working with persons in a spreadsheet or with other applications. Yes, but n...

Re: Ancestry account not allowing access to search results
Ancestry is accusing Chrome of a new bug, that affects how they access cookies & stored cache data. They say if you try Firefox, the problem goes away. But turns out the best fix is to completely flush out all Chrome cookies & cache data, then reboot. Unfortunately you will lose any password...

Re: Clarification of Privacy statement regarding Uploaded Memories of Living Persons
Interesting, Dave. I suggest calling the FamilySearch 24x7 help-line and asking them about it: 866-406-1830. ksgtarheel - I believed in earlier times (like a year ago), that all photos in FamilySearch were "Google-able" (searchable with almost any internet search engine), depending on the ...

Re: Temple Ordinances Out of Order
For sealing to spouse (both deceased), the order is not critical anymore. The ordinance is still valid, but won't be effective until the other ordinances are recorded. This was the conclusion of a nation-wide FamilySearch telecom on 15 Jan 2019 from the new Area Family History Manager to all Area Te...

Re: Live Stream Question
As a FamilySearch speaker Merrill White explained today at the end of his 3PM class for LDS Consultants, it takes 2-3 weeks for these recordings to pass church auditing & editing approvals before they will be posted anywhere. So my advice before then is to have arranged with someone who is watch...
