Re: Notice to STS - Using Zoom Webinars...

Since webcast is what we used at the stake center for stake conferences, I've been working to get our other buildings setup and assistants trained so that every unit in our stake is broadcasting. The stake center has a video mixer and a teradek but the other buildings are just using a webcam and ol...

Re: Changes to Webcast buffering times

so I don't expect to be touching the Webcast much anymore if at all going forward. I'm not sure if you handle stake conferences, but Zoom's limit of 500 connections is likely to be a deal killer for that. Webcast was originally intended for stake conferences. It will likely continue unless the chur...

Re: Changes to Webcast buffering times

Something to consider for buildings with tight schedules and using a single Teradek, just schedule one long meeting for the building for the day. (i.e. 'Stake Center Wards Sacrament Meeting' instead of '1st Ward Sacrament Meeting' followed by '2nd Ward Sacrament Meeting') Since the broadcast switch...

Re: Changes to Webcast buffering times

For stake conferences, I would like to have an hour pre-buffer and at least 10 minutes post-buffer. Unless a different stake is sharing the building (and equipment), I'm not sure why such a short post-buffer is being used for stake conference. I know the event can be extended, and at least for stak...

Re: Ready to smash the Teradek Vidiu; alternatives?

Did you ever resolve the issue with your VidiU? Our stake has had 1 vidiu box For the past few years and it has never been an issue, but having that box be the “go no go” reason for failure forced to be have a backup in place. Currently I use OBS for that. We have our video feed run through my compu...

Re: Word of Wisdom for the New STS

Each location was to have their own "local" part. I do think it wise to avoid the church system for regionals - it puts too much strain on the system. Since this is a training thread, I would suggest getting your hands on the instructions to read for yourself. Too much gets lost in the tr...

Re: Word of Wisdom for the New STS

Awesome info Gary. Mahalo for that. I became the STS about 4 months ago. I didn't want to up and change everything so decided to just be a "helper" at the next Stake conference which was about a month and a half ago to watch how its done. I wanted to see what worked, didn't work, could be ...

Re: Webcast Building to Building Broadcast Recording

The vidiu is an encoder ONLY so no recording available there. Assuming you are able to get permission, you will have run your hdmi feed into a splitter when one will go into your external recorder (standalone/computer/etc.) and the other to your vidiu.

Re: Connecting a Ipad to sound sistem what to do for best result

I don't know about other buildings in our stake, but I have only seen the crab box at our stake center. My ward is not the stake center, but in our building, each Ward has their own mic (very different ones) and xlr cable (also very different) to use mostly for baby blessings. Actually, our cultural...

Re: What equipment do you use for webcasting?

I am a new STS, but have been doing live tv production for a few decades now. I primarily do A2 (set up audio at events with the A1 being the one on the board), but have experience with most aspects of the biz. Up until I got here, they have been using webcast with a single consumer camera taking in...
