Windows Phone Projects Marked Inactive/Private?!?

I noticed this morning that all of the Windows Phone projects (Gospel Library, LDS Tools, etc.) have been marked inactive. The project pages indicate that each project has been made private until the Church determines what next steps will be taken for this application. Is this platform being abandon...

I'm having trouble getting this to work on a Motorola Blur. The application opens with the title on the top, but an empty black screen. I've tried deleting the \sdcard\gospel-library folder, uninstalling, re-installing, and still no success. Is this supported on earlier versions of Android? Any help...

Here's a link to the article James mentioned with information about the Sage, Aspen and Cody standard plans. For a list of the plan types that are currently in use, see the Standard Plans Planning Brochure on http://lds.org/aec/ . We're looking into ways for sharing information about the rest of th...

I haven't had a chance to see the OpenOffice database, but will take a look and see if it might help.... thedqs hit the nail on the head with his comment about VBA - I think the problem I'm seeing is that so many of these databases DO take advantage of Access' ability to make a full application out ...

Access Databases, Alternatives

Yes, wiki's are indeed a nice way to share information - we've setup a few in my area to test the concept and found them very useful. There are so many open-source ones available, and it sounds like tools like Sharepoint might also have some sort of Wiki functionality. I'm excited to see that used e...

Access Databases, Alternatives

I remember hearing a lot in recent years about an effort to greatly reduce the use of Access databases at the Church. I'm just wondering if someone might have some information to share on that, and maybe an update on how its going. Have any alternatives been identified for smaller projects that may ...

Friendly URL's

Shorter URLs, delayed or not, is still great news - thanks for the update. I'm sure it's a tremendous undertaking, considering how many pages there are, but a worthwhile one nevertheless. I've used TinyURL before, but I've realized that I have no way of knowing what site one of those links will take...

Vignette URLs

I hope there's some truth in the rumor - shorter, more user-friendly URL's would make it much easier to reference a specific website in print. In preparing a newsletter for our ward recently, we resorted to describing how to navigate to a certain page rather than having people try to type in a long ...

Privacy Concerns?

I can imagine that there would probably be privacy concerns with having that kind of information so easily available, but if those could be resolved something like this would be VERY useful. I would hope that plotting the locations of our meetinghouses would be a safer place to start.

Using Free Mapping API's for Meetinghouse Locator

Just curious if there has been any consideration given to using API's such as Google Maps or Virtual Earth for tools such as the meetinghouse locator. I'd love to see a tool that would allow you to browse around a map and see where meetinghouses are available.
