Re: Temple Ordinances

If the people have common names, the names may have been merged with another person of the same name in the past, then split out again later or recreated. Sometimes the ordinances are left with the other person and are incorrect. I have submitted requests in the past to FamilySearch, asking them to ...

Re: "Take a Name"

I disagree with the previous "clod" who thinks that the solution is to "RESERVE THE ORDINANCES to "SHARE with CHURCH. " There have been many occasions when I have found names of people who are my direct line ancestors whose names have been languishing in the "system&quo...

Finding Ancestors Who Need Ordinances

The reason most names are in new FamilySearch is because the temple work has already been done. The idea is to help people see what has been done, so that they can then DO RESEARCH to locate more names outside of new FamilySearch. Ths requires the old fashioned ways of locating people, as well as on...

Concerns about new ordinance reservation process

It seems to me that if you only enter information into nFS about the members of the family for whom you are ready to do ordinance work, and leave out information about the other members of the family, you can submit only those you want to do, and avoid having to remove the others. Then when you find...

Ordinance Dates Missing In nFS

I have an entire batch that I processed last March using Temple Ready for which the ordinance work does not show in nFS. Some of the work was done in temples not using nFS and those dates are in the IGI. Some temple work was done in nFS temples and those dates do not show up anywhere. There are show...

I have found that the temple tab in the labs Family Tree doesn't have all of my ordinance cards listed. Some of my older batches aren't in there, and a few of my more recent submissions have missing names, but they are in the Reprint list.

Great Idea - Inventory Your Temple Cards

Using the description listed in the previous post by MorettiDP to get you to the screen where you reprint ordinance cards, you can also do the following: I discovered that by going to the Temple Ordinance tab in new FamilySearch, then clicking on "Reprint Family Ordinance Requests and Family Ordinan...

nFS question

I can answer the second question. In Knowledge document 103303, the following steps help you determine who has reserved ordinances. 1. Go to http://labs.familysearch.org 2. Click Family Tree. Sign on with your new FamilySearch sign-in name and password 3. Click the Search tab (top right) 4. On the t...

Sources in nFS

Alan I agree with you about the length allowed for disputes. Usually there is a technical reason for a dispute, and it is nearly imossible to put the needed amount of information into the limited space allowed. On the subjecot of sources, if you go to the details screen and click on each event - bir...

Soiurces in nFS

I have heard comments like yours that nFS sources are not consistent with how genealogists use the word. Would you explain what you mean by that? My effort to post sources produces the following fields: Source Type Source detail Media type Title Author Publication Information Location Type or Reposi...
