Re: HD Video Distribution in New Meetinghouses

I have gotten better results (empirically speaking) from my Monoprice converters, then my BlackMagic . I also try to keep everything 720P, including and especially source computers and cameras. I use our Decimator Design MD HX to ensure 720P is emanating from the various sources. It's all about late...

Re: Why no hymn lyrics on screen this general conference?

This topic has been beaten to death already. Essentially it has been decided that English should be afforded no more prominence than other languages, therefore, no more hymn lyrics. Also, because non-English hymnals have different pages, they can’t simply call out the page #. I personally dislike th...

Re: HD Video Distribution in New Meetinghouses

I had thought about re-terminating everything to BNC. However, given the fact that it still works with F/BNC adapters I think it best to leave things as is. I make sure the building is completely back to its original configuration. In my 'General Conference' test, I did try 1080P, but it didn't work...

Re: HD Video Distribution in New Meetinghouses

I've been able to get a solid 1080i 59.94 over the existing RG59 coax, running nearly the length of the building. Ours is a 'Legacy' Stake Center, with the library in the back, next to the Relief Society room. From the satellite rack, three RG59 cables travel together ending first - in the chapel ov...

Re: POE injectors

Thanks!

I suspect we're having issues with one, but I don't want to bug the FM group for a $20 item.

POE injectors

Unfortunately, I didn’t keep the boxes when I installed our MR33s. Which Ubiquiti POE injectors did the church issue? Since the MR33 is 802.3af compatible, would the Ubiquiti POE 24-12W-G be a good choice?

Re: Maraki and Cisco AP integration issues.

I think there's some Meraki magic making speed tests useless. From the same iPad, connected to the same MR33 (we only have one in our building), I've measured speed through Ookla ranging from 32 Mbps sitting next to the MR33 in the attic, 53 Mbps in the Relief Society room just below, and 98 Mbps in...

Re: WiFi

How old is your building and how big? It's a "Legacy" architectural style stake center. Constructed in ~1999, ~25,000 sq feet. I don't know if we have wooden or metal wall beams in the walls. The structure upstairs leads me to believe its metal in non-load bearing walls. I'm sure the 18 l...

Re: First World Problems

And you could via wired? Normally you can't stream YouTube at all, but that restriction is turned off in the weeks surrounding General Conference. I wouldn't expect the Meraki to limit the bandwidth that much if you're the only user. Wired computers are at full speed, even on the other side of the ...

First World Problems

At the modem, speedtest.net measures 105 Mbps (Cox Cable). Directly out of the MX64, speedtest.net measures 103 Mbps. In a clerk's office, behind a cheap Monoprice switch, through a garbled patch panel, and easily 200 feet away, speedtest.net measures 101 Mbps. Standing 5 feet away from the MR33, pl...
