Re: Next LDSTech Broadcast: Digital Media into Meetinghouses

WWLT is once or twice a year, GC twice a year. I haven't seen any Primary or Relief Society videos that pop up often. Seminary has DVDs that are used for classes for the most part. Those can be ripped and dumped on USB if needed. Yes an initial feed (from medialibrary.lds.org)would take time, but af...

Re: Next LDSTech Broadcast: Digital Media into Meetinghouses

The WHS definitely is not overwhelmed as no one knows about it but me for testing. WHS works great for backup and restore of machines also...The problem is Wifi usage and coverage. Wifi is just not reliable enough. And we do not use any consumer based Wifi in any of our buildings... At home I use WM...

Re: Asking End Users about online/mobile tools development d

You mentioned the lack of Win 8 volunteers, on some of the Win8 posts, there are a ton of developers asking to volunteer. In that case there is a lack of communication that they can help, and more importantly how/by what process.

Re: Next LDSTech Broadcast: Digital Media into Meetinghouses

In our stake center with 3 wards meeting, we have a major WiFi overcrowding issue. Everyone and their kid with a smart device knows the passcode. We have a Windows Home Server that I download a lot of content to test streaming. Streaming was still slow because of overcrowding depending on the time. ...

Re: MS Surface RT - Good for Family History?

I am assuming you mean the familytree version of family search? We are having to install Firefox on all of our family history center pcs (approx. 25) because IE8 no longer works properly. Now if we had Window 7/8 with IE 9/10 is a different story whether or not will it work. I suspect that IE 10 wil...

Re: Asking End Users about online/mobile tools development d

The reason there is not a survey on other platforms is probably the same reason why the gulf exists between the app versions on different platforms. It almost seems like there is a lack of communication between the development teams.

Re: Any efforts for Windows 8 applications?

Just thinking about your LDS Tools not downloading...I had an issue with my wife's not downloading on her 920. It was actually doing it on her Focus with WP7 also. If I logged in as myself it worked fine. I went and changed her password to not have any special characters, and it worked fine. I hones...

Re: Any efforts for Windows 8 applications?

Yes I 100% agree with you. I had a demo unit of an RT device for about a month. I found that I had to create shortcuts on the Windows RT Start so that I could have things available to me. I have a WP8 phone, there is a version of LDS Tools and Gospel Library, but LDS Tools is way behind what is avai...

Re: Any efforts for Windows 8 applications?

It only will work on the Surface Pro, not Surface RT.

Re: Any efforts for Windows 8 applications?

As another person suggested, you can use BlueStacks which allows you to install the Android version of Gospel Library and LDS Tools. It is a bit kludgy though.
