Case closed! My STS was able to get it working after about two hours of work. I wasn't with him when he did it, but I will find out what happened.

Thanks again, everyone. I couldn't get back to the office tonight due to an injured foot, but my STS was going to go over and check it out. If he wasn't able to get anywhere, I'll try the suggestions below. At one point I did delete the jre5 and jre6 folders after copying them to a flas...

Another suggestion that builds on an earlier suggestion someone made: Do a completely clean install. By this, I mean: ⋅ Uninstall MLS. ⋅ Move the C:\Program Files\LDS Church folder somewhere else on your hard disk. ⋅ Rename the C:\Program Files\jre6 folder to something...

While MLS is running, under Task Manager you will see two processes: javaw.exe and MLS.exe. The javaw process will take far more memory than the MLS process. The version of Java used by MLS is the one that MLS installs, which is in C:\Program Files\jre6. The regular install of Java is normally at C...

I'm now logged on from the ward computer. I had not seen the post by jdlessley until just now. Let us know if after you follow the steps above you cannot logon to MLS because there may be some Java issues on your computer. When my bishop was working on this with me on Sunday, he opened Task Man...

Replying to Russell and lajackson in the last two posts: We do have a backup from Dec. 2 on a flash drive that I tried to use yesterday to populate the "new" install of 3.1.2. I say "new" because I renamed the mlsData directory so that the program wouldn't use it and I could restore from a back...

Go back one more backup from the one you used and you will pick up both the user names and the passwords. This works best if you use the backups that MLS makes itself each time someone logs off. We did that. No dice. And by the time we were done for the day, all of the MLS-generated backups were ba...

Similar Problem

Our executive secretary shut down MLS improperly yesterday, and it caused the program to freeze whenever someone tried to log in. The steps listed here did not correct the problem. My bishop, who is thanfully a network administrator for the local gas company, and I got it to the point where it doesn...

Same Problem

The marquee of my copy of MLS says "3.1.1", but I am also having an issue with being able to log in. I enter my user name and password, then press "Enter", or click "Log in", (I tried both) and the program stops responding. Task Manager says the program is still running, however.

I'm going to be really messed up when the elders quorum president's counselors become the redeeming the dead counselor, the perfecting the saints counselor, and/or the proclaiming the gospel counselor!
