Sorting membership lists by ZIP Code

My stake clerk has passed along a request from our mission president: "President Murray . . . would like to have a directory of all members that was sorted by Unit and by family to include their names, birthdates and addresses with zip codes in the Wilmington Delaware Stake. He is asking all Stakes...

I don't believe the stake has a budget for computer upgrades. Individual stakes may set aside parts of their budgets for this, but that wouldn't apply to all stakes. I would agree that it's best to get the SPs approval. After all the machine belongs to the stake and the folks who use it the most ar...

Running a Java program isn't the only reason for the computer needing more RAM. The new Desktop 5.5 has a firewall and other things built in that are also taking up computing resources. It's a lot to cram into 256 Megs of RAM. Also, the biggest thing are clerks have complained about is the time to ...

That's been a recurring problem in my stake too, even before we got MLS 2.6.

Meanwhile - I find that on our stake's computer (I'm assistant stake clerk for membership) I can log in to MLS 2.6 OK, but I can not Send/Receive or access the Boundary Realignment menus. I could do both before.

When I was on my mission in Italy, the Church made a point of asking us missionaries, when we filled out the Baptism Recommend / Temporary Membership Record, to include the area code. That way someone outside the branch who had access to the records (say, someone in the territorial office in Milan) ...

Sometimes they reset on a move, and sometimes they don't. They definitely don't reset when the unit changes and the address doesn't. In the meantime I try to re-code each unit in my stake each month. There are systems out there for consolidating lat/long into something more compact. One such is the ...

I think population data is available on the census block level. It certainly is at blockgroup, but I haven't looked very hard. For what I'm doing right now, and am capable of doing, population comparison is going to have to wait. (My calling has included stake membership clerk for almost three year...

I live in a ward in the rural part of VA that is almost the size of the state of Rhode Island, and have felt that mapping would provide great value to organize ward missionary work through helping the missionaries with rides, referrals, and member visits. I am fortunate to have access to ESRI ArcGI...
