Re: Elder ordination on record - parents don't remember it

Changing the birth date: I've already given copies of his (and his sister's) membership records and birth certificates to the stake president so he can write a letter to Salt Lake to fix the birth dates (and ratify ordinances, if necessary - it's a long story). A special request wasn't taking at the...

Re: Lost Sheep: Contacting Family Listed in a Membership Rec

It does help to have some feel for the extended families in your ward and stake. That way if someone flies the coop (or the newspaper prints information about one of them) you can know who to contact, make sure records are in the right place, etc. If you don't have that kind of know-how about a memb...

Elder ordination on record - parents don't remember it

One of the ward clerks in my stake was going over membership records with a family, and they said their 18-year-old son, who has an Elder ordination on his record, is in fact still a Priest. The record says he was ordained an Elder right after turning 18 (really 17 - the record is a year off on his ...

Right now I download the CSV, pipe it through a Perl script to format everything (including USPS web service), and have to manually copy and paste corrections into MLS. I find that intriguing to say the least. Does your script have an allowance for those who live in apartments, trailer courts, dorm...

Two of the four quarters are followed by General Conference. In our case we had Stake Conference the following week, and so as of last night four of the sixteen units in my stake still hadn't submitted the quarterly report. Why it isn't pushed for the quorums and auxiliaries to turn in what they can...

Separating adult child from parents' household, keeping in ward

Not to get into a discussion about when this is/isn't a good idea here - how is it best done in MLS? (I was a ward membership clerk three times, but I used MIS then.)

It is now up and running. And two weeks later I'm getting a call from a high councilor (we're in the same ward) saying his son is having trouble setting up his account. Specifically, he's being told his signon is already in use (or something like that, remember I'm hearing this second-hand). Any in...

Recently the Grandview (Washington) Ward picked up territory from the Prosser Ward, and was moved to the Prosser meetinghouse. It also changed names to the Rattlesnake Mountain Ward and moved from the Yakima stake to the Kennewick stake. But if you look in LDS Maps (or the PDF maps on CDOL) the stak...

I just love it when you in the middle of tithing entry and a ward leader will come in and ask for a report, and you tell them sorry you'll have to wait. You see the "I want it now" mentality spring forth, and you're waiting for them to start stamping there feet because you tell them to come back in...

Your suggestion to get the records updated is spot-on. It's really unfair to saddle the new unit with all of one's undone housekeeping. One other suggestion I have is to make a backup of MLS prior to the move and one after. The former stake may have a need to recreate the old unit to handle leftove...
