Where are you creating this new account? From what I've seen here, it should be a sub-account of "Member Financed Activity", not the top-level "Other" account. This is to separate Member Financed Activities from CHQ's use of "Other" as a catch all until everything can be figured out account. It was...

MLS/CUBS - Unable to create Other Accounts

3-20-11 MLS - Newest version We are just noticing that we cannot create a new "Other" account for Girls Camp or Boys Camp. MLS alows us to Add it, but if there is another entry, the account isn't available to assign a deposit to, we have to create it again. Last week we added this account and put a ...

I wouldn't consider task manager as a "safe shutdown" method. It depends in part on how the app is coded and if Task Manager will give it the time it needs to safely close the database. Again, I wouldn't do it unless told it was a supported way of doing it. Otherwise, it may come back and corrupt y...

If things have changed, they haven't told us. Given the possibility of corrupting data, I don't think we'd want to experiment until we've been told it's supported. Perhaps not...don't forget, if there were multiple logins...IF...the clerk would have all the passwords for each group login. They can ...

As far as I can remember, all of the clerk's doors in my stake do have a dead bolt. Must be a luxury then, we don't. All doors open with a push-down handle. Apply a little pressure to the locked door handle, you have it open. Perhaps you are seeing maybe a glimpse of why I am just a little worried ...

Evidentially you don't know the newer buildings...like I said, 2 people can fit in the clerks office at 1 time and there is no room for any more cabinets. Yeah, we would love more room and more cabinets to help, but the clerks office is not much bigger than 6' x 8' - wall to wall. Add 2 file cabinet...

JD, The issue and what I have been talking about isn't exclusively about MLS. My example of getting to another Wards' drive easily by virtue of the same standard password was illustrated that I could get to their backup file on their hard drive. Yes, I can grab their data from another computer in th...

Computer security begins with the office door.

I doubt that is true if they are following Church policies and procedures. Confidential data can only be stored in MLS on the hard drive. You should not have any of their MLS usernames or passwords. If confidential data is not in MLS then it must be in removable media and locked away. Ah yes, I can...

If you're suggesting that the Church should change the documented procedures, that is a reasonable suggestion. But I do think you exaggerate when you say the current situation is equivalent to no security at all -- the password is not known to the general Church membership. Hi Alan. I don't think i...
