Re: New Lenovo m710q Clerk Computer Provisioning Quirks

Don’t need any special passwords anymore, thank goodness. Using the usual Windows uninstall pcrocess, uninstall all Sophos software. Here’s a list I got from GSC Support of what you might find, not all of which might be on your computer: Sophos Patch Agent Sophos Compliance Agent (NAC) Sophos Networ...

Re: New Lenovo m710q Clerk Computer Provisioning Quirks

One more thing. If Sophos throws up weird errors on your new machine and you need to reinstall it, you have to uninstall it first, or it will carry old events logs and stuff into the new installation. Use the regular Windows uninstallation process. If that fails, reinstall right on top of it, and th...

Re: New Lenovo m710q Clerk Computer Provisioning Quirks

Thanks for the hints. They have been very useful. That UAC thing really saved me. I'm doing twelve computers, all Lenovo ThinkCentre M710q tiny desktops. Here are some additional tips: 1. If you are preparing a computer that is going to used be used to run MLS in Korean, be aware that there is curre...

MLS does not display Korean characters on new computers

I am currently preparing some ward computers for installation, and I came across a problem: If you let Windows update itself completely before you install the Windows Korean language pack, MLS displays all Korean characters as uniform rectangles. Read on for a partial work-around and for more detail...

Re: New Lenovo m710q Clerk Computer Provisioning Quirks

I just replaced 5 of my clerk computers with the new Lenovo m710q (the super tiny ones) desktops. In doing so, I found some quirks to the LDS Provisioning profile and thought I'd write some annotations to the instructions for those setting up new clerk computers in the next few months, or at least ...

Re: Problems loging into LDS Tools

Good idea. One would definitely want to try that first. Signing out of iCloud will remove more than cached app data, and it may be a pain to get everything in sync again. There's an easier way to remove app data for an individual app from iCloud, in iCloud settings. I haven't seen this particular LD...

Re: Problems loging into LDS Tools

Be aware that signing out of iCloud means that "Your iCloud Photo Library and any documents and data stored in iCloud Drive will be removed from" your iPhone or iPad. That can be a real pain in the neck. Make sure you have a full backup before doing this, just in case all of that stuff isn...

Re: Problems loging into LDS Tools

Recently helped someone solve a similar problem. After several hours of struggle, the solution turned out to be: 1. Delete LDS Tools. 2. Restart the iPad. 3. Sign out of iCloud. (For instructions on how to do that, see: http://www.imore.com/how-sign-out-your-icloud-account-iphone-and-ipad) 4. Look u...

MLS does not display Korean characters after Windows 10 update

Just in case anyone else runs into this problem, this is what I had to do to fix it. Problem: After upgrading to Windows 10, MLS no longer displays Korean text. Every Korean character is replaced by an upright rectangle. Solution: The Windows 10 Korean language pack and associated software must be d...
