Re: Recording releases and new callings...

Now, when I was an assistant clerk, the ward clerk had me maintain the callings/releases. It was a challenge because I was not at the bishopric meetings and our bishopric (including the ward clerk) at the time also had the habit of forgetting to tell me. Sometimes I was able to pay attention during...

Re: Recording releases and new callings...

A clerk should be entering the callings/releases in MLS and keeping it up to date. As the ward clerk, I do it myself, but I can certainly delegate it to an assistant clerk. Being present at bishopric meetings makes it a little easier to maintain, however on occasion a member of the bishopric might s...

Re: Tools or apps to help with record keeping

We use Google Drive in our ward, and there's an app that is available on android and iOS. You can grant various people of your choosing access to folders and documents. For example we have a callings tracking spreadsheet we use that the whole bishopric can view and edit. So if Brother Smith gets cal...

Re: Submit an Application to the First Presidency

It's in MLS in the confidential reports section (lower left corner of the main screen of MLS). Ok, thanks. Our bishop actually would prefer to fill the form out and submit it online if possible. Apparently LDS.org says this can be done. Any ideas why the link would not be visible for him there, or ...

Submit an Application to the First Presidency

Where do I find the Application to the First Presidency form? We need to request a sealing clearance so a member in our unit can remarry in the temple who was sealed to his previous wife. Handbook 1 (3.6.1) says units can obtain a paper copy of the form from the recording-keeping software (I'm assum...

Declaring tithing status for members

I am the ward clerk and we have a new bishop and this is his first tithing settlement. He came to me Sunday and asked how is he supposed to know if a member is a full-tithe payer or part-tithe payer if they paid something but did not attend tithing settlement to declare their status? Does he guess o...

Re: Transfer money from Budget to "other"

Writing a check to ourselves is what the stake clerk suggested we do, because the members were already reimbursed...just from the wrong budget categories. Rather than open up several old payment batches spanning the last 2-3 years to change the categories, we opted to write a check to ourselves ins...

Re: Transfer money from Budget to "other"

It would really be nice to be able to transfer funds from "Other" to "Budget" and vice versa like the good old days. For instance, we had too much sitting in the "Other" categories that had been sitting there for over a year, and the auditor suggested we do something w...

Re: Missing Batch

It will determine if any cash is missing and was not deposited. How would it determine if any cash is missing? You could print out YTD donation reports for the members who donated cash in the batch that is missing documentation and ask them to verify the donations. Or you could ask some of them. Si...
