Re: Set yearly budgets based on quarterly "estimates"
Sometimes in the middle of the year we may move funds from one organization to another if one isn't spending as much, or another has more expenses then they planned. The budget is like a living, fluid thing. The great thing about MLS is that it's easy to adjust the budget any time it's necessary. T...

Re: Set yearly budgets based on quarterly "estimates"
Now if someone can explain how we are supposed to set yearly budgets based on quarterly "estimates" i.e. "guesses," well, chaos can be avoided. Since they changed the allocations from yearly to quarterly, the way I look at the budget hasn't really changed for me. I still look at...

Re: Tracking Membership Changes
The best thing you can do is to ensure only clerks have the rights to update membership records in MLS that way only the clerks are making the changes. Organization leaders should only have organizational rights which usually don't allow them to make any changes but only pull reports. An exception ...

Re: How to pay tithing online?
Last year I noticed that when I payed fast offering and tithing, the money was all grouped together and was listed as tithing. What you pay in fast offering and tithing should be separated because they are used for different purposes, as was mentioned by another poster. They shouldn't be grouped to...

Re: How to pay tithing online?
I pay my tithing electronically. If the church has any problem with a large number of members paying tithing online then they should set up an automatic process to do this and save everyone the hassle. Even if the church had that set up I guarantee you not all would pay that way. I work in a paymen...

Re: Receiving membership records not in our units
I think it's best to leave the destination ward blank, except in cases where you are moving records to a student, language-specific, or some other ward other than the default residential ward for the destination address. I just noticed that they have now added the capability to move records out on ...

Re: How to pay tithing online?
We have one couple that pays through online bill pay. Its mailed to the bishop each month and we fill out a tithing slip for them and shred the yellow copy. For me it's a lot easier than counting $100 dollars in bills and coins. Members shouldn't be discouraged from paying their tithing in any way t...

Re: How to pay tithing online?
I had to edit my post because I didn't read all 7 pages of comments, so sorry about that. I was going to mention that you could set up a direct debit with the church by filling out a form, but apparently that has already been discussed.

Re: Do we HAVE to buy paper through store.lds.org?
A case of 10 reams of paper through store.lds.org is currently $43 - I usually find it at the local staples for around $34 and CostCo usually has it for under $30. Do we HAVE to buy it through store? You don't have to go through the website, but you're looking at store.lds.org which is through the ...

Re: Receiving membership records not in our units
I was told that we needed to look up the correct ward on LDS.org and then forward the membership to that ward. No, you don't. There's absolutely no requirement to provide the new unit in most move-outs. In fact, that's probably the source of the problem. In most cases you only need the new address....
