When do expenses post?

I'm just wondering when do purchases (Checks written from MLS) post? For example, if I enter an expense into MLS from Budget on Dec 31, does it come out of this years budget (when I enter it) or does it come out of next years budget (when the check is cashed or deposited by the recipient on Jan 1 or...

My instructions said that I will receive the new setup file beginning Oct. 25 (Oct 31 - Nov 6 if shifted.) I'm in Washington state. Apparently there are wide spread dates of availability .

Thanks for the reply. In my 4 years as finance clerk, I have been trying to educate the auxiliary presidents, and the bishopric on occasion, on the guidelines for funding activities. Although I attempt to follow those guidelines as closely as possible, here are my observations on the financing of ac...

I guess I misunderstood the OP's question. I thought he meant that a youth had paid the full cost out of his own pocket, and then, when a subsequent fundraiser raised enough to cover all the youth in the ward, the youth was trying to recover his out of pocket payment. If that was not the original qu...

It can be done

We had a similar situation last year where a member was distracted while filling out their donation slip and check and wrote a tithing check for 100% of their monthly income instead of 10%. They contacted the bishop the next day and he contacted CHQ and a few faxes later, he was told that the donati...

Just to clear up some misconceptions, manufacturers are not allowed to void a warranty because you used other than OEM consumables in their products. With that said, the reason we use OEM supplies is because we are instructed to. I wasn't aware of this requirement to use oem supplies. Where can I f...

Yes, this is pretty much what happened to me. I had two separate reimbursement requests for one member, and even though they were from "budget" and "other" categories, on a whim I tried one check and it went through with no problems. We'll see if it carries on.

Thanks for clearing this up. Although since I, the finance clerk in charge of processing these donations and accounting for them, didn't understand this, do you think that the membership of the church does? I still think that when someone choose to donate to "Ward Missionary" vs. "General Missionary...

One check from multi categories?

Last week I wrote a check where part of the money came from Budget and part came from an "other" category. Is this legit? I didn't think we could do this before.
Thanks,
Alan

I've never been completely comfortable with the Stake sweeping surplus "Ward Missionary" funds. When members of the ward donate to the Ward Missionary category, I feel that they have an expectation that that money is specifically going to assist missionaries (and their families who are supporting th...
