Re: Sealing to Deceased Parents

The FamilySearch Help Center is a great resource for such questions. See Sealings to deceased family members (you have to be signed in to FamilySearch.org to see help articles related to the temple).

When does countdown for conference sessions start?

The women's session starts in about 20 minutes, but the satellite is still showing alternate programming. I thought the countdown was supposed to start by now. Should I be worried that I might be on the wrong channel?

Re: Helper Number

Her helper # is the last 5 numbers in her membership record number. Ask clerk for a fast answer if you don't know it. That's correct by default, but any user can change the Helper Number. In this case, it's pretty obvious she would not have changed it yet, so the clerk route would work. I'm just cl...

Re: Sealing to parents problems

I have cards that show correct sealing to the correct parents is done, yet family search is giving me the message "This sealing-to-parents ordinance is valid, but the parents are not listed because of privacy or they may not match those in Family Tree. Click here for more information". Th...

Re: Intermediate Hymn in the new meeting format?

I think “intermediate hymn” is an outdated and essentially meaningless term. Used in a 2-hour conference session it might make sense, but not in one-hour Sacrament service. My ward is trying to maintain the old ways (e.g. closing hymn in Relief Society) and “intermediate hymn” between speakers in S...

Erasing hard drives with BleachBit

The official instructions in the Help Center for scrubbing a hard drive of a decommissioned clerk computer are found here: Erasing a Hard Drive . But I found the results to be entirely unsatisfactory. The instructions say to use BleachBit to first scrub the free space and then shred all folders on t...

Re: Church systems don't like byu.net email addresses?

The byu.net forwarding system allows you to release particular emails that its spam filter caught, and also to set up custom rules that either block or allow specified senders or domains. You just do the following: ⋅ Go to filter.byu.edu (signing in with your BYU NetID) ⋅ In the ...

Re: Come Follow Me - For Individuals and Families format suggestion

I was not certain where to post this suggestion. If this isn't the right place would someone please let me know where to post it? Thanks in advance. This is as good a place as any until we determine more specifically what you are talking about. But in any case, please note that we are just a commun...

Re: Name Change

OK, so is it going to be Church of Jesus Christ Tools? I'm hoping for something like Gospel Tools. The official announcement only mentioned Gospel Library (keeping its name) and LDS Music (changing to Sacred Music). For all other apps, we just need to wait for announcements, following the counsel: ...

Re: Preventing others from adding names to family tree

If you believe the person was added in error, you could remove them from the parents or delete the record altogether. You can't delete a person that was added by someone else. You can only delete a person for whom you are the only contributor. I wouldn't recommend removing the person from family re...
