Keep in mind that if both parents are not members (i.e., only the children are members), then the head-of-household MUST be one of the children (as opposed to one of the parents). So the rule that the male spouse must be the HOH only works as long as one parent is a member. Question: Is there an ass...

Believe me -- when leaders forward address and phone changes to the ward clerk, are told that those changes have been completed, and then over a week later, it's still not updated on LUWS, it doesn't help LUWS credibility. (And it's not an issue of the clerks being up to date. I'm currently "watchin...

Tip: Check for correct married name

Experienced clerks will probably already know this, but I still find myself bitten by this. When a sister's marriage is processed in MLS (either by the temple if it occurred there or by the ward if it occurred outside the temple), MLS will by default drop the maiden name and change the sister's new ...

This has been discussed in several other threads. I would not begin to be concerned until a week had gone by, although it is often much sooner. I did some browsing around previously and had came to the same conclusion. This is one of the biggest excuses I've heard from members on being reluctant to...

Another annoyance surrounding non-member spouses being added to the household and becoming the HOH: Consider the fictional case of Molly Mormon who has not changed her surname. She is married to Peter Catholic, who is not a member of the Church. When printing household lists, it appears as: Mormon, ...

Synchronization delay?

What's the general expectation on changes made in MLS (addresses, phone numbers, etc.) being updated on the Ward site on lds.org?

Thanks for the feedback. All I know was that an attempt was made to do this via a Special Request in MLS, and then yesterday, I was asked by the Ward Clerk to find out if there was "another way".

Finding dates of Aaronic priesthood ordinations

A high priest in our ward is trying to find the exact dates of some Aaronic Priesthood ordination dates. (He says that when he was baptized, adult males were ordained deacons, then teachers, and priests. There is some family question over the dates for a family history. Of course, his records only s...

Putting a hold on a record

Is there a formal process by we can prevent a membership from being pulled from the ward without authorization from the bishop? Our bishop attempted to send a request to prevent the movement of a record through "Special Requests" via iMLS, but apparently that isn't the process. Is there a number to ...

I have found that unless the member is using Yahoo/Hotmail/Gmail/work email, the email address they provide the first day almost always changes. That's because their email tended to be tied to their now-former Internet service and it has changed to whatever the local provider is. And I'd say 80% of ...
