D-Star future

I am not sold on the idea of a proprietary digital format. I am not sold on the idea of a single manufacturer spec for digital. That said, it seems that D-Star has a few answers for that. D-Star appears to be an open protocol. This might allow home-brew and novel implementations that are not tied to...

WOW!

I will be presenting a pretty complete review of D-Star at the Utah Amateur Radio Club (probably the September 6th meeting) and at Oquirrh Lake Radio Club (Daybreak - South Jordan, UT, maybe Aug. 11th). If you want to learn about this new technology. I will be at the UARC meeting. This is INCREDIBL...

This is looking really good. I hope soon we can get it rolled out for testing in some units.

That is perfect.

Again, I don't think you need the ability to change the standard types in the UI, but having the ability is only a liability if the admin does something silly.

Visited / Not Visited

It does not matter what we call the two categories, what is important is that we have to aggregate all other types into 'visited / not visited' for reporting. For some instances, you would change the display of these two categories, but you CANNOT change the underlying meaning. Changes to the meanin...

Rename options

I think you would be ok if you allowed the text of the visit type to be changed for a given ID. The two types that you would not want to edit are 'Visited' and 'Not Visited'. I would disable editing of those, as any change to them would probably lead to confusion. You could add a "Power User" edit s...

Simplified UI

I don't think you need the radio buttons. I would use something like: Counts as visit Chart Separate Visited X Not Visited Phone X X Email X Then you only have 2 flags to check.

My vote then is for just 'visited / not visited / not reported' default with the ability to add or modify types as needed.
