Bring on the pro installations

But what is the Signal Strength and/or the SNR? That's probably one of the first differences between a professional approach and a hobbyist one. A professional one is a engineered solution. A hobbyist one just slaps some stuff up and sees if it works. A hobbyist one may work well, but because a pro...

What's a "Heritage"?

In my building, a Heritage building, ... Thanks for the response! Is there a place I can go to find the terms "Heritage", etc, so I can understand the "class" of my buildings? Is that something the FM guys know about? Is there a place here we could start posting this kind of information? These are ...

pro versus hobby/diy

Maybe I don't understand what you mean by the "hobbyist approach". Thanks, Mike, for the response and question! The professional approach is you paid a contractor that installs WiFi for a living, and especially if he and his pocketbook are on the line for support should the system fail, or if it ne...

Meetinghouse "commercial" WAP installations

I'm looking to install WiFi into the 3 buildings of our stake. All three buildings are different design, but I believe are similar to what you find all over the Church, certainly in Utah. The marching orders from my leadership have been for sometime now "WiFi available everywhere in the buildings". ...

I vote yes, run the updates.

Our stake has been online for several months now. As a matter of routine I perform all updates. None of our workstations have exhibited any issues with any updates, IE7, or SP3. I would recommend against connecting to the LAN/Internet unless you plan to have all of the udates performed, and Symantec...

Phone line

Yes - it is from one of the clerks offices. It, along with the audio feed, is connecetd into the unit in the panel. Works great, and is a no-hassle, one-button operation (which is nice when the pressure is on).:)

TNX for the EJ-10 manual!

Not the jacks on the top of the unit, the one audio jack on the side. EJ-10 Manual TNX for the manual. Since there is no specific adjustment I guess you just live with whatever sidetone you get. I've only used them for telephone to mic, not the other way. We didn't have one of these in the stake ce...

We are preparing for a stake conference "simulcast" to a second building in 3 weeks. This is our first attempt. I've really appreciated all the posts here and we have used many of the ideas over the past 3 months as we have implemented this. We are using a Slingbox to stream the video. From the sug...

The EJ-10 crab box has a mini phone jack on the side for anything you want played into the phone line. Since the EJ-8 doesn't have telephone capability, that's probably what you have. I believe the EJ-10 is only one-way: phone line to audio system. I don't think you can go the other way. We used a ...

I would like to know more about your setup. What do you use for the broadcast machine? for the receivers? what is the media server that you refer to? We tried high-speed radios for the network and it is just too expensive (although it worked very well). When is the next time you will do this? Thank...
